About Architectural & Interior Design
What Drives Us
For me, the main thing is the idea behind a building. I want every space to feel like it has a real purpose, not just something put together for the sake of looks. You’ll see a lot of concrete in my work - not polished up, just left raw and honest. I like steel for those slim, see-through connections, and wood for a bit of warmth. My goal? Make places that actually inspire you, not just shelter you.
How I Work
- Material honesty: I don't cover things up. Concrete is concrete, wood is wood. You’ll see the craftsmanship, good or bad.
- Light, air, volume: I design homes and offices that breathe. Big courtyards, skylights, double-height spaces. You get natural light and that open, airy vibe.
- Nature is always a partner. I’ll stagger balconies so you get tree views, add water channels for coolness, and play with courtyards – like the classic totti mane (courtyard house).
- I enjoy modernising tradition, especially for compact city plots.
What I Design
- Homes that breathe - from multi-gen family places to quirky extensions. Sometimes the house is a fortress outside, but inside opens up like a tropical retreat. Sliding partitions, rainwater roof channels, lily ponds - it’s all possible. If you’re into courtyard house architecture or want something with that modern Indian style, you’ll probably vibe with my work.
- Offices that inspire - not the usual boxy places. Think sustainable office interiors with open plans, natural light, and features that actually lower AC use. My own studio is proof - open, flexible, always evolving.
The Journey
Every project is a new adventure. We start with a core idea and let it evolve. Sometimes the process is smooth, sometimes it’s a bit mad - but that’s how you get real integrity in design. If you want nature-integrated building concepts or something that feels genuinely modern, I’m here for it.

My Story
We’re Funktion Design, Bangalore folks who like to mess around with ideas, not just buildings. Our own studio’s got floating galleries and chunky concrete bits – all open, all about letting thoughts bounce. We’re big on keeping things real: concrete as it is, steel that looks like steel, wood that feels like home. Sometimes we’ll take a courtyard house (totti mane) and twist it for city life. Awards are nice, but it’s the daily play with space that keeps us hooked. And ya, we don’t mind a good laugh when work’s done.
My Work
All-round Design Studio - We do architecture, interior design, urban design, furniture, and master planning for big campuses.
True-to-Material Approach - Raw concrete architecture, steel, wood – we let the materials speak, nothing fake or hidden.
Rooted in Context - Modern, yes, but we love reinventing old-school stuff like contemporary courtyard house design for today’s cities.
Spaces that Breathe - Nature-integrated workspace, lots of light, open air, and views – we want places to feel alive.
From Homes to Campuses - Big or small, home or factory, we dig unique design problems and love a good challenge.
