A look into the concepts that define our practice, as documented by leading architectural publications and global design awards.

My work on the Funktion Design studio was featured in Domus India under the title "A Daring and Visceral Pragmatism." The article discusses the building as a convincing argument for the spatial and structural possibilities that arise from a close collaboration between architect and engineer.

A quote from the Domus India feature, describing the experience of being within the studio's multi-level, transparent structure as a "sense of exhilaration." The article captures the feeling of lightness and suspension that the design aims to evoke.

The feature included early conceptual sketches and photographs of the studio under construction, illustrating the evolution of the design from a simple idea to a complex, layered building.

A series of diagrams from the Domus India article, showing the step-by-step assembly of the studio's structural language. The text describes how the lower suspended floors impart the "distinctive experience of being within a tree-house."

The magazine spread details the project credits and showcases interior views of the studio, including the open-plan workspace and the sculptural spiral staircase.

This page from the feature highlights the intricate detailing of the suspended steel walkways and staircases, which form the primary circulation path through the building.

I was pleased that the Nairy Residence was nominated for the ArchDaily 2024 Building of the Year Award. This image, part of the nomination, shows the building's expressive form and material palette.

This interior shot, also featured in the ArchDaily nomination, highlights the dramatic interplay between the green steel staircase, the raw brick wall, and the natural light from the oculus above.

Another image from the award nomination, focusing on the quality of light and space in the upper corridor, where an internal window looks out over the central void.

The connection between the dining room and the garden was a key aspect highlighted in the ArchDaily feature, showcasing the home's emphasis on indoor-outdoor living.

About In The Press: Recognition & Features

What you see in these publications is not just a finished building, but the result of the rigorous, often messy process we document in our studio. Whether it is our own workspace featured in Domus India or a residential project nominated by ArchDaily, the focus remains on material honesty—letting concrete, steel, and wood speak for themselves rather than hiding them behind artificial finishes.
