About Start Your Journey: Online Beginner Classes
When you join my online beginner batch, you get more than just a video to follow. We focus on building a strong foundation in Tatkaar (footwork) and Hastak (hand gestures) before moving to choreographies. Because I cap my Zoom batches at ten students, I can actually see your posture on screen and provide real-time verbal corrections, ensuring you understand the movement structure deeply rather than just copying my steps.
Kathak is not just movement. It is a way to connect your body, mind, and senses. In these beginner batches, we break down the Jaipur Gharana style into manageable steps so you can find your own grace.
What You Will Actually Learn
Many students fear they have two left feet. My curriculum is built to prove otherwise. We start with the heartbeat of Kathak:
- Tatkaar: Understanding weight distribution and floor contact.
- Chakkars: Mastering the balance required for spins.
- Hastak: Using meaningful hand gestures for storytelling.
- Padhant: Learning to recite the rhythmic patterns (bols) so you understand the math behind the dance.
How Online Training Works
I treat my virtual classroom with the same rigor as my Vile Parle studio. Every live session is recorded, so you can revisit the lesson during your daily riyaaz (practice). We use audio Lehra tracks, and you receive consistent feedback on your video submissions. This isn't just about watching a screen; it is about building a discipline.
Whether you are a busy professional or a student, these classes are structured to fit into your life. We offer a four-month course cycle, allowing you to progress from the very first step to performing traditional compositions with confidence. If you want to dive deeper, we also have pathways for certification through the Visharad exams.
