Our stage performances are where the daily discipline of our studio meets the vibrant energy of a live audience. From Jaipur Gharana recitals to thematic group choreographies, we bring the classical heritage of Kathak to stages across Mumbai.

A moment from our 'NrityaChanda 2026' showcase, where my students present a Sadra in praise of Krishna. Their coordinated movements and expressions bring the divine story to life on stage.

We were asked to present something that gives joy to a first-time Kathak audience, and I believe we delivered. This piece, performed by my students, was created to share the pure happiness that this dance form brings.

An interactive moment from our 'NrityaChanda' Mumbai Edition, where the audience joined in to count the chakkars. The energy in the room was electric, proving that the audience is truly half of any performance.

A wide shot from my solo performance, with the live musicians in the background. The synergy between the dancer and the musicians is crucial in a traditional Kathak recital.

About Our Stage Performances

When we step onto the stage, we aren't just performing steps; we are inviting the audience to experience the mathematics of rhythm, known as Layakari, and the emotional depth of Abhinaya. Every performance at venues like Veda Kunba Theatre is a testament to the rigorous, traditional riyaz we maintain in our Mumbai studio.

For the students and performers at Kathak Nritya Mandir, the stage is a sanctuary for our sadhana (devotion). We believe that the Rasikas (audience) form the second half of any performance. Without their energy, the dialogue between the dancer and the music remains incomplete.

Our stage work draws heavily from the Jaipur Gharana repertoire. You will see this in the sharp, intricate footwork (Tatkaar), the lightning-fast spins (Chakkars), and the subtle, expressive storytelling that defines our school. We don't believe in cutting corners for the sake of entertainment; we aim to make the classical form itself entertaining through precision and storytelling.

Our annual showcases, such as NrityaChanda, allow us to explore the versatility of Kathak. We have adapted traditional compositions for modern platforms, collaborating with live musicians to ensure the synergy between the dancer and the soundscape remains organic. Whether it is a solo recital or a group composition, our choreography focuses on spatial awareness and technical synchronicity.

If you are looking to bring this level of classical rigor to your event, or if you are a student aspiring to one day grace these stages, we welcome you to reach out. We view every performance as an opportunity to pass on the legacy of my Guru, Smt. Radhika Sathe, to a new generation of viewers and dancers.
