Gentle Yoga for Kids in JP Nagar
I help children build a foundation of focus and calm through breathing, mindful movement, and traditional asana, far from the pressure of competition.
This shows the beautiful yoga journeys of three young practitioners at our shala. Through consistency and the dedication of their parents, they have made yoga a part of their lives from a very young age.
Two young yoginis exploring a playful pose. When children start yoga at an early age, they develop tools for life, helping them stay less stressed, happier, and more content.
Yoga is a journey of connecting with the self. This powerful image of a young girl in a deep forward bend shows the focus and introspection that can be found even at a young age.
Taking one breath at a time. This is Keertana, who has been practicing with me for two years. It is my hope that every child can have the gift of yoga in their lives.
Three young girls practicing a pose together in our spacious shala. When parents practice, their children are often inspired to join, creating a beautiful family habit of wellness.
Slow and steady progress is the key. This young girl demonstrates her growing focus and flexibility in her sun salutation. Consistency is what builds a strong and lasting practice.
The joy of learning something new. Here, 12-year-old Keerthana learns to jump back from a balancing pose, showing what great effort and consistent practice can achieve.
The pure joy of success after months of daily practice. This young boy's reaction after achieving his first drop back is a testament to the power of hard work and perseverance.
Learning the opening prayer to Patanjali. We begin our practice by honoring the tradition, and the children learn to chant together, setting a calm and focused intention for the class.
Learning to balance is a fundamental part of yoga and life. Here, children in my class are playfully finding their stability, one wobble at a time.
About The Kids' Yoga Practice
I don't teach gymnastics; I teach kids how to breathe. My sessions are strictly limited to 10-15 students to ensure that every child gets the hands-on guidance they need to learn fundamental poses safely. Whether it is finding stillness in a stretch or learning the opening chant, the goal is simple: helping your child build a consistent habit that brings them quiet confidence both on and off the mat.
Building a Foundation
Yoga is a journey that starts with the breath. In my shala, we approach kids' yoga as a practice of presence rather than performance. For children between the ages of 4 and 9, the focus is on developing body awareness and emotional regulation through modified Primary Series Ashtanga, simple breathwork (pranayama), and traditional chanting.
Why Practice with Us?
- Consistent Growth: We treat yoga as a discipline. We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays to ensure children develop a rhythm. This consistency is what allows them to move from simple balancing poses to more complex movements over time.
- Inclusive Setting: My shala is a space for every child. I run specialized sessions for neurodivergent children and believe that movement should be adapted to the child, not the other way around.
- Traditional Techniques: I teach practical techniques like Jal Neti to help children manage seasonal colds and improve sleep. It is about equipping them with tools for life, not just exercises for the hour they spend with me.
What to Expect
Each 45-minute session is structured to be engaging. We begin with prayer to calm the mind, move into age-appropriate asanas to build strength and flexibility, and end with guided focus exercises. There is no competition here. We celebrate the effort of showing up and the joy of learning to balance, wobble, and try again. If you are looking for a space where your child can learn to pause, breathe, and act, you are welcome to join our community in JP Nagar 7th Phase.
Nitesh Batra
I am Nitesh Batra. I have been practicing and teaching since 2006, and I view our shala as a home where children can find their own rhythm through breath and gentle movement. We do not chase perfect form; we show up, we breathe, and we grow together.
