Mindful Workshops for Kids: Art, Music, and Science
I believe children find their natural calm when they explore creativity without pressure. In these workshops, we blend art, music, and science with mindfulness techniques to help kids slow down and discover their own inner rhythm.
An introduction to the wonderful teachers of our Kids Music & Meditation workshop. Smt. Divya Shenoy and Shri. Gautam Shenoy guide children to explore sound, stillness, and joy.
A moment from our Music and Meditation workshop, where Smt. Divya Shenoy guides the children through vocal exercises. The session became a space for spontaneous expression and joyful singing.
Here, children are deeply engaged during our Music and Meditation workshop. We explored pitch, rhythm, and melody as doorways to presence, and the children's natural curiosity led the way.
In our workshops, every child's voice is heard. Here, a young participant shares his thoughts during the Music and Meditation session, learning to express himself with confidence.
A quiet moment of listening. The children in our Music and Meditation workshop learned to tune inward, paying attention to the sounds around them and the stillness within.
At the end of a beautiful workshop, we express our gratitude to the guest teachers. Smt. Divya and Shri. Gautam Shenoy created such a loving space for the children to explore music and mindfulness.
This is from a Guru Vandana, a classical music event I participate in. It shows how traditions are passed down, with the young and old learning together, which is a spirit I bring to my workshops.
Community and tradition are at the heart of learning. This image from a classical music event shows a grandmother sharing a moment with her grandchild, embodying the intergenerational spirit of our shala.
A beautiful moment of connection between generations at a community music event. I believe learning is a shared journey, and our workshops welcome the wisdom of all ages.
A young student accompanies his teacher during a classical music performance. This reflects my belief in nurturing talent and devotion from a young age through our various artistic workshops.
About Mindful Workshops: Art, Music, and Science
These workshops are not about producing perfect art or mastering a complex instrument. Whether we are exploring sound waves through physics or finding patterns in a mandala, the aim is always the same: learning to pause, breathe, and act with awareness. This is about giving your child a practical toolkit for managing big emotions, right here in our JP Nagar studio.
A Different Way to Learn
Many of the children who visit my shala come to me feeling the pressure to perform—in school, in sports, and in their extra-curriculars. These mindful workshops are designed to offer the opposite. By collaborating with experts like Smt. Divya Shenoy and Shri Gautam Shenoy, I invite children to engage with music, art, and science as gateways to stillness.
Why We Blend Subjects
- Music and Meditation: We explore pitch, rhythm, and melody not as a performance, but as a practice of deep listening. It teaches children to turn their attention inward.
- Mandala Art: We use the repetition of drawing dots to mimic the breath. Each dot is a pause, a small moment of concentration that creates a calming effect on the nervous system.
- Science and Mindfulness: When we experiment with domino effects or sound waves, we use these as metaphors for our own thoughts. Children learn to witness how one action leads to another, helping them navigate their emotional reactions with more clarity.
Creating a Safe Kula
My studio in JP Nagar 7th Phase is a sanctuary, not a classroom. We keep our batches small, typically between 10 to 15 students, because I want every child to feel heard. Whether we are practicing chanting for shanti or exploring math through grain sorting, the goal remains the same: nurturing a child who knows how to find their own center. We do not chase milestones here. We simply show up, practice together, and grow at a pace that feels honest and real.
Nitesh Batra
I am Nitesh. At Ashtanga Yoga Sadhna, I create spaces where children can just be themselves. I don't just teach poses; I invite guest experts who understand that music, science, and art are just other ways to reach the same place of stillness we seek on the yoga mat.
