Build Strength and Find Your Flow with Aerial Yoga
Aerial yoga is a full-body workout that builds surprising strength in your core and grip. We use the hammock to achieve deeper stretches and create flowing sequences, helping you feel lighter and stronger after every session.
This is what I call next level movement. This sequence shows how we can use the hammock to create dynamic and graceful flows that are both a workout and a form of moving meditation.
Here I am demonstrating an aerial version of Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana, or extended hand to big toe pose. The hammock provides support to help stabilize and deepen the stretch.
A playful weekend energy flow. This shows how we can use the hammock for more than just static poses, incorporating dance like movements to build strength and coordination.
Flow and feel free. This sequence demonstrates a transition into an inversion, highlighting the core engagement and upper body strength required.
How are you hanging today? This pose is a great stretch for the hips and quadriceps, and the hammock allows you to control the intensity.
This pose is a fantastic core and upper body strengthener. Using the wall for support is a great modification as you build the strength to hold the pose freely.
Using a lower hammock to work on the One Legged King Pigeon pose. The silk supports the back leg, allowing the spine to curve naturally and the hips to open up more gently.
A partner variation of downward dog and an aerial plank. This is a fun and challenging way to build strength and work together.
Students working on their aerial splits. The hammock supports your body weight, allowing you to safely work on increasing your flexibility over time.
The aerial plow pose is an intense stretch for the entire back side of the body. The hammock provides support and helps to decompress the spine during this deep forward bend.
About Build Strength, Find Your Flow
The beauty of the hammock is that it acts as your personal support system, letting you attempt poses that feel impossible on a standard yoga mat. Whether you are a total beginner or just looking to add a fresh challenge to your fitness, I guide you through every inversion, ensuring you feel stable and secure before you ever lift your feet off the ground.
Why Aerial Yoga at Anahata
Many people think aerial yoga is only for the flexible or the gym-obsessed. That could not be further from the truth. At my studio here in Gurugram, I see students walk in with stiff backs and tight shoulders all the time. The hammock is a game-changer because it provides assistance that a regular mat just cannot.
When you are hanging, gravity works for you, not against you. This is essential for spinal decompression, which is a massive relief if you spend hours at a desk. We focus on building functional strength—think core engagement, grip strength, and upper body stability—but we do it in a way that feels like play rather than a workout.
What to Expect in Class
- Small Batches: I keep my groups small, with a maximum of 4 to 5 students per class. This means I can personally spot you during inversions and adjust the hammock height to suit your comfort level.
- No Pressure: We go at your pace. If you are nervous about being upside down, we start slow, just inches off the floor. The goal is to build trust in your body and the equipment.
- The Experience: We blend floor warm-ups with hammock work, always ending with our signature floating Savasana. It is the best feeling in the world to be wrapped up in the silk like a cocoon at the end of class.
Whether you want to nail an inversion or just need a safe space to stretch out those knots, come hang with us.
