Aerial Yoga Sessions: Build Strength and Decompress
Aerial yoga might look like just flipping and swinging, but it is a powerful way to reset your spine and build genuine strength. Whether you are stiff from sitting at a desk or simply looking for a new way to move, come explore this supported practice.
Welcome to the world of Aerial Yoga. I love how this practice lets you explore movement in a completely new way. This video shows a simple flow into an inversion, a core part of our classes that helps decompress the spine and leaves you feeling refreshed and energized.
This is the kind of strength and grace you can build with consistent practice. The hammock acts as your partner, supporting you as you challenge your limits and discover what your body is truly capable of. This inverted pose is fantastic for building core and upper body strength.
Look at that smile. This is the joy of accomplishment I see in my students every day. You don't need to be a gymnast to start, you just need a willingness to try. This student is beautifully demonstrating an aerial split, improving her flexibility in a supported way.
There is a special energy when we practice together. In my small group classes, we create a supportive community where everyone feels comfortable to hang, fly, and laugh. Here, we are all in a synchronized inverted Baddha Konasana, or bound angle pose.
I love seeing these posts from my students. This was her first time ever hanging upside down, and she absolutely loved it. This is proof that aerial yoga is for absolute beginners, and my top priority is to guide you safely and make you feel confident.
Do you experience back pain or stiffness from sitting all day? My Back and Spine workshops are designed specifically for you. We use the hammock to gently decompress the vertebrae and realign the spine, providing incredible relief and improving posture.
Bring a friend and share the experience. Partner aerial yoga is a playful way to build trust and connection while getting a great workout. Here, we are using the hammock to assist in a deeper version of Adho Mukha Svanasana, or downward facing dog.
The best part of class for many is our final relaxation. Cocooned in the hammock for Shavasana feels like being gently held in a cloud. It is a moment of complete surrender, allowing your body and mind to absorb all the benefits of the practice.
It’s not just a workout, it’s playtime for adults. This is the kind of fun and laughter you can expect in our studio. Flipping and swinging in the hammock helps you let go of stress and reconnect with your inner child.
My classes are now open for booking. I keep batches small to ensure everyone gets personal attention and guidance. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced fitness enthusiast, there is a place for you here.
About Featured
The hammock isn't just a prop; it is a tool for spinal decompression. If you spend your day hunched over a laptop, hanging upside down for even a few minutes helps release that deep-seated tension in your back. You don’t need to be flexible or super fit to start here, as we move at your pace, one inversion at a time.
Aerial yoga at Anahata is about more than just the poses; it is about the feeling of letting go. When we step into the hammock, we aren’t just working out; we are creating space in the body and mind. Many students walk in intimidated, worrying they aren't 'yogi' enough, but the beauty of this practice is that the silk does half the work.
Why try Aerial Yoga?
- Spinal Health: Gravity is often our enemy when we sit all day. Inversions flip the script, using gentle traction to decompress the vertebrae and ease lower back aches.
- Building Strength: It is a full-body workout. You will engage your core, arms, and grip in ways that feel like play rather than a grind.
- The 'Cloud' Savasana: Ending your session cocooned in the hammock, swaying gently, is a form of deep relaxation that is hard to find elsewhere.
- Safety First: I keep group sessions small—maximum 4 to 5 people. This ensures you get personal spotting and alignment corrections, especially when learning those first few flips.
Whether you are a complete beginner or a regular fitness enthusiast, this space is open. You will leave feeling lighter, taller, and perhaps a bit more playful than when you walked in.
Anahata
I'm Ruchie, and I started Anahata because I believe yoga should be accessible, heart-centered, and a little bit fun. I’ve seen firsthand how hanging upside down can change someone’s mood and their back health, and I can’t wait to guide you through your first fly.
