Yoga for Everyone: Strength, Flexibility, and Peace
Age is just a number. Whether you are starting out or looking to deepen your practice, see how our community builds strength, finds balance, and has fun together at Agastya Yoga.
Meet one of our most inspiring students. At 80 years young, she is proof that yoga is for every body and every age. Here she is practicing an inversion, building strength and confidence. If she can do it, so can you.
As your guide, my focus is on your safety and progress. Here, I am providing hands-on assistance using a chair to help a student safely deepen their backbend in Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), ensuring correct alignment and preventing injury.
Experience the freedom of Aerial Yoga. Using the silk hammock for support, this student gracefully achieves a full split in the air, decompressing the spine and improving flexibility in a fun, dynamic way.
The journey from Scorpion Pose to a stable Pincha Mayurasana (Feathered Peacock Pose) requires practice and dedication. We work together to build the core and shoulder strength needed for advanced arm balances like this.
Feel the energy of our community. In our group classes, students of all levels practice together, supporting and motivating one another through a mix of mat work, partner stretches, and aerial poses.
Age is just a number at our studio. This 64-year-old student demonstrates incredible flexibility in Hanumanasana (the splits) and strength in a wall-assisted inversion, showing what consistent practice can achieve.
Building strength from the ground up. I demonstrate the transition from Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog) into a stable Bakasana (Crow Pose), a foundational arm balance that builds core and upper body strength.
Yoga is not just about serious poses; it's also about finding joy and playfulness. Here, our students enjoy a lighthearted moment on the aerial swings, because 'thodi mauj masti bhi zaroori hai' (a little fun is also necessary).
We practice Trataka (candle gazing) to improve focus and concentration. After the practice, we chant the Om mantra together to deepen the meditative state and find inner shanti (peace).
Using wall ropes to build incredible upper body and core strength. With my guidance, this student learns to control her body against gravity, making challenging movements accessible and safe. Bahut badhiya!
About Featured
What you see here isn't just about poses. It is the result of 'karat-karat abhyas' (consistent practice). You will notice us using props like wall ropes, chairs, and aerial hammocks; these aren't just for tricks, but to help you find proper alignment, manage pain, and build confidence regardless of your starting point.
Why Our Approach Works
I believe that everyone has a 'Sikandar' (conqueror) inside them. My classes at our Sector 23, Gurugram studio aren't about rigid, serious silence. We mix traditional Hatha and Vinyasa flows with modern techniques to keep things accessible for everyone.
Key Styles We Practice
- Aerial Yoga: Using silk hammocks to decompress the spine and make inversions feel light and playful.
- Wall Rope (Kurunta) Yoga: Perfect for back pain management and deep, supported stretching.
- Prop-Based Alignment: We use blocks, wheels, and bamboo sticks to help you safely ease into poses, especially if you have limited flexibility.
A Space for All Ages
It does not matter if you are a beginner or looking for advanced asana refinement. We have students in their 70s and 80s proving that yoga is a lifelong journey. We focus on:
- Functional Strength: Building the core and shoulder stability required for arm balances like Bakasana.
- Therapeutic Relief: Gentle modifications for injury management and sciatica support.
- Mindfulness: We always conclude with Savasana and meditation to ensure you leave with more shanti than you arrived with.
Come as you are, and let us start the journey together.
Agastya Yoga
Namaste, I am the lead guide here at Agastya Yoga. I do not believe in drill sergeants; I believe in helping you find your own strength at your own pace, with a lot of 'shabash' along the way. Whether you are 20 or 80, I am here to make sure you enjoy the process.
