Master Your Asanas with Prop-Based Yoga
Yoga props are not just for beginners; they are tools to unlock your body's potential. From wall ropes that provide traction to chairs that make deep backbends accessible, I use these to help you find alignment, no matter your age or starting point.

About Yoga with Props: Deeper & Safer
I often tell my students that using a prop is not cheating; it is intelligent practice. Whether we are using a wall rope for traction-based stretches or a chair to support a deep backbend, these tools help you find the correct alignment safely. This way, your body learns the structure of the pose rather than just struggling through it.
Why Props Matter
Many people think props are for those who 'can't' do yoga yet. In my studio, the truth is different. Props help you enter poses with stability, which is essential for building strength without injury. If you are struggling with tight shoulders or a stiff back, the right prop allows you to hold a pose for longer, which is where the real work happens.
The Tools I Use
- Wall Ropes (Kurunta): These are fantastic for traction. They help decompress the spine, making them a game-changer for anyone dealing with back pain or stiffness.
- Chairs: I use these to safely deconstruct backbends. It takes the pressure off your joints and helps you focus on opening the chest and strengthening the spine.
- Yoga Wheels & Blocks: These serve as extensions of your arms. When you can't reach the floor, the block comes to you, keeping your spine straight and your breathing steady.
- Bamboo Sticks: Simple but powerful tools for shoulder alignment and posture correction.
Safe Progress for Everyone
I have seen students in their 70s use these methods to finally achieve stretches they thought were impossible. Whether you are recovering from an injury or trying to nail your first pincha mayurasana, props provide the security you need to move beyond your current limit. Yoga is a journey of 'karat-karat abhyas' (continuous practice), and I am here to make sure that journey is safe, effective, and encouraging for you.
Agastya Yoga
I believe that everyone carries their own strength inside, and my role is simply to help you unlock it. At my studio in Sector 23, we use props not to make yoga easier, but to make it effective for every body type. You do not need to be flexible to start; you just need to show up.
