About A Taste of Clay: One-Day Workshops
You don't need years of experience to make something cool here. In these 3-hour sessions, we focus on specific decoration techniques like Sgraffito or Mishima—you’ll carve, paint, and create your own piece while getting a quick 5-10 minute spin on the wheel. Don't worry about the messy stuff; we handle the glazing and firing so your pottery is food-safe and ready for you to pick up in two weeks.
What to Expect
Life in 'Luru is busy, so we keep these sessions relaxed and low-pressure. You aren't signing up for a stuffy academic class. Think of it as a creative escape where you get to learn the basics of clay manipulation, ask all the questions you want, and laugh when your piece wobbles a bit.
The Techniques
We rotate our workshops so there is always something new to try.
- Sgraffito: You’ll learn to carve intricate patterns into leather-hard clay, revealing the color beneath. It is deeply satisfying and produces stunning visual contrast.
- Mishima: This is our inlay technique. We teach you how to carve fine lines and fill them with contrasting slip or underglaze to create sharp, permanent designs.
The Logistics
We provide all the materials—clay, underglazes, and tools. Since we are in the business of 'clay and chaos,' expect to leave with some mud on your clothes. Your pieces stay with us for the drying, trimming, and the double-firing process (bisque and glaze) at 1200°C. They are food-safe and ready to collect from our Jayanagar or Koramangala studio area in about two weeks. Whether you are coming for a solo date or bringing a friend, we have got the clay ready.
