byTrayah PotteryStudio at Jayanagar, BengaluruView full gallery

This is where the raw mud finally turns into art. We take you behind the scenes of our Jayanagar kiln room to show how your pieces go from clay to food-safe finish.

For those who want to dive deep into the science of pottery, we offer a 7-day Glaze Development masterclass. You'll learn all about glaze chemistry and how to create your own unique colors.

Announcing our much-awaited glaze development course! After years of experimenting, we're ready to share all our secrets about creating stunning ceramic glazes.

The magic of glazing. Watch as a bisque-fired piece is dipped into a bucket of glaze, completely changing its color and texture. This is the step that brings your pottery to life.

A peek into our glaze room, showing our wall of test tiles. We're constantly experimenting with new colors and combinations to offer our students a wide range of options.

Our glaze test tile wall is a rainbow of possibilities. Each tile shows how a different glaze will look after being fired, helping students choose the perfect finish for their work.

Shelves loaded with freshly glazed student work, ready to be fired in the kiln. The anticipation of seeing how they turn out is always so exciting.

A beautiful collection of student pieces in shades of green and blue, fresh out of the kiln. The glaze transforms them from plain clay into functional art.

About this collection

Our glaze room is basically a laboratory of beautiful experiments. We maintain a huge library of glazes, but the real alchemy happens at 1200°C, which is exactly why we need a two-week window to get your work back to you.

Glaze development is part science and part creative gamble. Whether you like the depth of a deep blue or the texture of a matte finish, we have spent years testing combinations on our wall of tiles. If you want to understand the chemistry behind those colors, we even run masterclasses for the serious potheads. For our regular students, we handle the trimming, glazing, and firing so you can focus on the fun part. Firing in the humidity of Bangalore can be tricky, but we have the process down. Your creations go through the bisque fire to harden, then the glaze fire to get that glassy finish. It takes patience, but seeing your work emerge from the kiln is worth the wait. Come by the studio to see our latest test tiles and pick your favorite finish.
