About Drills: Pad Work, Bag Work & Footwork
At our GTB Nagar academy, we don't believe in just hitting pads for a workout. My pad work sessions are designed to build your fight IQ; you will learn to read my cues, parry, and counter-strike. We emphasize correct biomechanics and punch retraction, which is why you see such a difference in form between those who train here and those who just throw aimless punches.
Drills are the architecture of your boxing game. Without them, you have power but no direction. At Traditional Boxing Academy, we strip back the 'flashy' gym culture to focus on the science of movement.
The Anatomy of Our Drills
- Pad Work (Accuracy & Reaction): This is where we simulate a real fight. You are not just hitting a target; you are learning to manage distance, cut off angles, and execute combinations under pressure. I use this to fix your stance and ensure your hands return to your guard immediately after impact.
- Heavy Bag (Power & Conditioning): The bag doesn't hit back, but it reveals every flaw in your technique. We use the bag to build structural integrity in your punches, teaching you how to drive power from your legs and hips, not just your shoulders. It is a lesson in rhythm and stamina.
- Shadow Boxing (Form & Flow): Often misunderstood as 'easy' work, this is where you master your body. We focus on the 'Peek-a-boo' style and USSR-influenced footwork. If you cannot move correctly without an opponent, you certainly cannot do it while being hit. We break down the movement until your defense is as automatic as your jab.
Why Technique Matters
Many people come to me wanting to lose weight or get 'fit.' That will happen naturally, but my primary goal is technical mastery. If you are in North Delhi and want to learn how to box, not just how to sweat, this is the environment for you. We train six days a week, and every session is an opportunity to sharpen your blade. Whether you are a total beginner or prepping for a bout, the drills remain the same: discipline, repetition, and correction.
