My tabla has traveled from intimate house baithaks in Mumbai to prestigious stages in the UK and USA. Wherever the music takes us, I am ready to share the rhythm.

About On Tour: Performances & Travels

When I travel for concerts, my priority is the consistency of the sound. I carry my own professional-grade tabla set and always arrive 45 minutes early for a thorough sound check, whether we are in a large auditorium in Kerala or a community hall in the UK. I coordinate directly with venue sound engineers to ensure the nuances of my Purab Gharana style come through clearly, so you never have to worry about the audio setup.

Performing at venues outside of my home base requires more than just knowing the bols. It requires adaptability, punctuality, and respect for the local environment.

My Approach to Touring

Whether it is a solo recital, a percussion jugalbandi, or accompaniment for a Hindustani vocalist, I understand the logistical needs of different stages. I have performed at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, international Ganesh festivals, and large-scale rhythm festivals in Kerala. Each venue presents unique acoustic challenges.

I come prepared with:

  • Equipment: A professional-grade tabla set with high-resonance skins tuned for acoustic or mic settings.
  • Punctuality: I prioritize a proper sound check to balance the sur and the taal before the audience arrives.
  • Flexibility: I am comfortable performing in diverse settings, from formal auditoriums to private house concerts.

Cultural Engagement

For me, a concert is not just about playing the notes. It is about a musical conversation. When I travel, I aim to connect with the local community. I have had the privilege of touring the UK and USA, and I always look forward to the unique energy that different audiences bring. If you are planning a festival or a cultural program, I am happy to discuss how we can tailor the repertoire to suit your audience, be it through traditional classical pieces or more accessible rhythmic explorations.
