About Concerts & Festivals
When I perform at concerts, I arrive 45 to 60 minutes early for precision tuning and sound checks. I work directly with your audio team to balance the Dayan and Bayan frequencies, ensuring the Farukhabad style compositions cut through perfectly—whether the venue is a massive festival stage or a cozy auditorium.
The magic of a live concert lies in the chemistry between the artist and the audience. My performances are rooted in the Farukhabad Gharana, where the focus remains on the clarity of 'bols' (syllables) and the dynamic range of the instrument. Having performed at venues like Kamani Auditorium and festivals like SPIC MACAY, I understand that every space carries a different acoustic personality.
What I Bring to Your Stage
- Sonic Clarity: I bring my own professional-grade tabla set. I prioritize tuning on-site to suit the venue's acoustics, meaning you get the crispness of the high-pitched dayan and the depth of the bayan bass, no matter the setup.
- Versatility: I am comfortable holding the stage solo, where the tabla becomes the lead voice, or providing the rhythmic foundation (theka) for vocalists, sitar, sarod, or Kathak dancers.
- Professionalism: I understand that a concert is a collaborative effort. I coordinate early with organizers regarding stage entry, exit flows, and specific cue moments, ensuring the flow of your event remains seamless.
Whether you are hosting a formal music conference, a university festival, or a private cultural gathering, my goal is to serve the music first. I treat every performance, large or small, as a sacred dialogue between the performer and the listener.
Debjit Patitundi
Music is my sadhana, and every concert is a new chapter in that spiritual journey. I am lucky to have learned from the legendary Pandit Subhankar Banerjee ji, and I carry his Farukhabad Gharana style into every performance. I don’t just play the tabla; I aim to create a rhythmic conversation that connects the stage to every person in the audience.
