About Devotional & Spiritual Music
When I accompany devotional music, my tuning changes to resonate with the specific acoustic environment of temples or intimate house baithaks. I prioritize subtle, high-resonance skins that carry the 'sur' of the vocalists clearly, ensuring the tabla supports rather than dominates the sacred chants.
My journey with devotional music is about more than just technique. It is about 'Sangat' (accompaniment). Whether it is a large-scale temple festival or a private home baithak, my goal is to blend my rhythms with the spiritual energy of the space.
My Approach to Devotional Music
I specialize in backing vocalists and instrumentalists for bhajans, abhangs, and spiritual recitals. This requires a different sensitivity compared to solo concerts. I listen closely to the lyrics and the 'bhav' (emotion) of the singer, choosing rhythms that elevate the atmosphere. I am comfortable playing for traditional Marathi Abhangs, Hindi Bhajans, and meditative percussion sessions.
Performance Settings
I have been blessed to offer my music at various sacred spaces, from the Siddhivinayak Temple for Maghi Ganesh-Utsav to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. I understand the logistical needs of these environments:
- Acoustics: I am well-versed in mic placement for both open-air temple stages and intimate indoor settings to ensure clarity.
