200-Hour Residential Yoga Teacher Training Course
Join our 28-day immersive residential program designed to ground you in the authentic Sivananda lineage. Whether you seek personal growth or a professional certification, we provide the disciplined environment needed to deepen your practice.
This video captures the heart of our teachings. It shows how the Sivananda Yoga Teachers' Training Course offers a path away from the disconnection of modern life, guiding you back to inner peace through the disciplined practice of Hatha yoga, meditation, and selfless service within our ashram.
Here you can see the core components of our 200-hour certification. You will receive our official Sivananda Yoga Teachers' Training Manual and embark on a 28-day residential journey into Hatha yoga and yogic philosophy, culminating in a certificate recognized by both the Yoga Alliance and the Indian Yoga Association.
We believe in providing personal guidance. This image shows a teacher giving hands-on assistance during an asana class, ensuring proper alignment and safety in a challenging posture like Sirsasana (headstand). This level of attention is a key part of the Sivananda sequence.
Our training goes far beyond physical postures. In this clip, Swami Govindananda delivers a lecture on yogic philosophy, demonstrating the deep scriptural and intellectual foundation of our courses. You will learn the 'why' behind the practice directly from senior teachers.
Your journey to our Tapaswini Ashram in Gudur is straightforward. This map shows our accessible location, just a couple of hours from major airports like Chennai and Tirupati. The path to the ashram is the beginning of your immersive experience in a traditional yogic lifestyle.
When you join our course, you become part of a global family. This is a photo of our dedicated staff and teachers at the Sivananda South Delhi center. We are here to support your growth and welcome you into our vibrant yoga community.
Welcome to our center, a space steeped in spiritual tradition. This video shows the sacred atmosphere we cultivate, with portraits of our gurus Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda, and deities that inspire our daily practice and devotional activities.
About Featured
This 28-day residential program is a dedicated immersion, not a casual retreat. You will follow a disciplined daily schedule, starting at 5:30 AM for morning meditation and concluding with lights out at 10:00 PM. We require participants to be prepared for the full ashram lifestyle, which includes mandatory selfless service (karma yoga) and a strictly sattvic vegetarian diet. It is a rigorous path intended for those truly ready to deepen their personal sadhana or transition into teaching yoga.
The Path to Certification
Our 200-hour Teacher Training Course (TTC) is recognized globally, holding accreditation from the Yoga Alliance (RYS 200), the Indian Yoga Association (IYA), and the Yoga Certification Board (YCB). The curriculum is rooted in the Hatha Yoga tradition passed down from Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda.
What to Expect
This is not a quick fix. Over 28 days, you will study:
- Asana Practice: Daily Hatha Yoga sessions focused on alignment and the Sivananda sequence.
- Yogic Philosophy: In-depth lectures on Vedanta philosophy and anatomy.
- Pranayama & Meditation: Techniques to quiet the mind and build energy.
- Teaching Methodology: Practical sessions to develop your confidence and ability to lead others.
Living the Ashram Way
You will reside at one of our traditional ashrams in Himachal Pradesh or Andhra Pradesh. Life here is simple. We prioritize community and devotion, meaning you will participate in mandatory daily satsang, chanting, and one hour of karma yoga. This service is not just a requirement; it is a fundamental part of integrating yogic discipline into your daily life.
Who Should Join
Whether you are an aspiring teacher or a practitioner looking to transform your lifestyle, this course provides the structure you need. You do not need to be highly flexible to apply, but you must bring a willingness to learn, adapt to the schedule, and live in accordance with ashram principles. We offer dormitory options for an authentic communal experience and twin-sharing AC rooms for those seeking more privacy.
