Begin your journey or deepen your existing practice with our structured courses in the Sivananda tradition, designed to guide you step-by-step from foundational basics to intermediate asana awareness.

Change your perspective with yoga. This video shows the journey into Sirsasana (Headstand), a key posture you will learn to approach safely in our Yoga Foundations course, which builds a solid base for a lifelong practice.

Our Yoga Foundations course is designed to help you refine your practice. You will learn to hold asanas longer, discover simple variations for comfort, and deepen your overall understanding of yoga in a small group setting.

This image captures the essence of our Yoga Foundations course: refining your practice. We guide you to hold postures longer and learn variations, building the confidence for a regular and safe home practice.

In our Yoga Foundations course, you will learn the 12 fundamental postures, breathing exercises, and warm-ups. This image shows students in a balancing pose, demonstrating the focus and stability developed over the 8-week course.

The Asana Symbol Series is an intermediate course exploring the deeper meaning of postures. We delve into the symbolism and effects of asanas at the physical, mental, and spiritual levels.

Over five consecutive weeks, our Asana Symbol Series focuses on specific types of postures. This graphic outlines the curriculum, covering forward bends, backbends, twists, inversions, and standing asanas.

This special course for intermediate students explores how to approach advanced asana practice. We focus on the symbolism of postures and their effects on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels.

About Build Your Practice: Foundation & Intermediate Courses

Our Yoga Foundations course spans 8 weeks, providing a systematic approach to the 12 fundamental postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation. For those already practicing, our 5-week Asana Symbol Series moves deeper, exploring the subtle energetic and spiritual impact of poses like inversions, forward bends, and backbends on Sunday afternoons.

A Systematic Path to Understanding

Yoga is a journey of steady progress, not a race. Our courses at the Kailash Colony centre are structured to help you build self-reliance on the mat. By joining a fixed-cohort course, you learn alongside the same group for several weeks, allowing our teachers to provide consistent, hands-on adjustments that you wouldn't get in a drop-in class.

The Yoga Foundations Course

If you are new to the mat or looking to restart, this is where you begin. You will spend the first 4 weeks learning the essentials: Sun Salutations, breathing techniques (pranayama), and the 12 core asanas. The next 4 weeks focus on refinement—learning how to hold postures for longer, finding comfort through simple variations, and adapting the practice to your body's needs. After completing this 8-week cycle, you receive a week of free daily intermediate classes to help bridge the gap into open practice.

Intermediate Asana Symbol Series

For practitioners who have completed the foundations or are joining us from other traditions, this series explores the 'why' behind the 'what.' Over five Sundays, we break down specific families of postures:

  • Forward Bends: For hamstring lengthening and calming the nervous system.
  • Backbends: For spine mobility and heart opening.
  • Twisting & Binding: For detoxification.
  • Inversions: Including guided, safe practice of the headstand (Sirsasana).
  • Standing Asanas: To develop balance and grounding.

We teach without music or mirrors, creating a zero-distraction environment that encourages you to turn your attention inward. Whether you are aiming to correct your headstand alignment or simply want to understand the meditative quality of the postures, these courses provide the structure needed for long-term growth.
