About Yoga for Children (Ages 7-12)
Our Sunday morning sessions are entirely screen-free, focusing on the discipline of Surya Namaskar and memory games rather than typical fast-paced activities. We balance this physical practice with Shloka recitation and storytelling, creating a calm atmosphere where your child can build focus and genuine self-confidence.
At our centre, we believe that yoga is a way of life, and our children's programs are designed to plant these seeds early. Following the teachings of Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda, we move away from the idea of yoga as just another extracurricular activity. Instead, we offer a space where children learn to cultivate inner peace and physical resilience through authentic Hatha Yoga.
Our Approach to Children’s Yoga
Our curriculum for the 7-12 age group is grounded in three pillars: discipline, education, and spirituality. We do not use digital screens or high-energy competition. Instead, we emphasize:
- Physical Foundations: Through animal postures and Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), children improve their coordination, flexibility, and overall physical strength.
- Mental Clarity: We introduce basic meditation and breathing exercises that help children manage stress and improve their concentration levels, which we find translates directly into their daily schoolwork and behavior.
- Cultural Connection: Our value education sessions include the recitation of Shlokas and the telling of stories from our spiritual tradition, helping children understand the deeper ethics of yoga beyond the mat.
Summer Camp & Intensive Learning
Beyond our weekly Sunday discipline classes, we host a 9-day intensive summer camp. This is a condensed, immersive experience where children practice daily, engage in creative workshops, and participate in a final graduation ceremony. It is a time for them to build friendships within our community, or 'satsang,' away from the distractions of the modern world. Whether you are looking for long-term consistency or a seasonal jumpstart for your child's well-being, our Kailash Colony centre provides a safe and traditional space for growth.
