Master Traditional Hatha Breathing & Cleansing Techniques
Go beyond asanas. Master powerful Pranayama, Jal Neti, and Nauli Kriya at our Arekere studio for deep physical and mental cleansing.
This is Nauli Kriya, a powerful abdominal cleansing technique from Hatha yoga. It tones the abdominal muscles and organs, and is a part of the deeper, traditional practices I teach beyond simple poses.
A collage from our Jal Neti session. This yogic cleansing technique is very useful for asthma, sinusitis, dust allergies, and improving immunity. I guide my students through it safely.
Students share their immediate feedback after a Jal Neti (nasal cleansing) session. They describe feeling clear, safe, and relieved, highlighting the instant benefits of this traditional kriya.
I teach you how to blow a shankh, or conch shell. The vibrations and long exhalation required for this practice help to calm anxiety, reduce stress, and strengthen your lung capacity.
Students practicing Tratak, a candle gazing meditation. This powerful kriya strengthens eye muscles, improves vision and memory, and enhances concentration.
Here, students are practicing Tratak naturally by gazing at the early morning sun. This is a beautiful and effective way to improve focus and calm the mind.
The sound of Om chanting in our studio. This practice, also known as Valmiki Pranayama, is one of the best for stress relief and developing deep, mindful breathing.
About this collection
Most people try Kriyas like Jal Neti or Nauli by following random online videos, but doing these incorrectly can cause irritation or unnecessary strain. In my studio, I guide you through each step personally, ensuring the technique is performed safely according to the traditional shastras so you feel the real benefits immediately.
Why Traditional Cleansing Matters
Modern yoga often stops at the mat. In traditional Hatha Yoga, we use Shatkarmas (cleansing techniques) to prepare the body for deeper practice. If you are struggling with sinus issues, digestive problems, or a cluttered mind, asanas alone might not be enough.
The Techniques We Practice
- Jal Neti: This nasal cleansing practice is invaluable for those dealing with asthma, sinusitis, or regular colds. It is not just about washing the nose; it is about clearing pathways and building immunity.
- Nauli Kriya: A powerful abdominal massage technique. When done correctly, it tones abdominal organs and helps with digestion. I insist on proper supervision here because, without correct technique, you will see zero results.
- Pranayama & Breathing: We do not just breathe. We use specific techniques like Valmiki Pranayama to lower cortisol levels and fix sleep patterns. Many of my students who came with chronic insomnia have found relief through our dedicated sessions.
- Tratak: This candle-gazing meditation is my go-to for improving concentration and memory. If your eyes are tired from screens all day, this is the remedy you need.
My Approach to Safety
I treat these as medical-grade practices. We do not rush. Whether we are practicing Om chanting to calm the nervous system or learning to blow a Shankh to increase lung capacity, the focus remains on the process, not the result. You will receive real-time corrections to ensure you avoid injury. If you have been hesitant to try these because they look complicated, bring that hesitation to class. We will break it down together.
