Join Our Pottery Community in Bandra
Pottery is about the people as much as the clay. Come meet our community, share a laugh, and find your calm in our green studio in Pali Hill.
A lovely day at the studio with aunts and their niece. Pottery is such a wonderful activity to share with loved ones.
Coffee, cookies, and a bit of pottery with this wonderful group. These courses are as much about community as they are about clay.
A happy selfie from one of our courses. We talk, we laugh, and yes, we also do some pottery. :)
The second week of our beginner's course is always full of fun and learning. It's great to see everyone getting more comfortable with the clay.
If you've never worked with clay before, my beginner's course is the perfect place to start. You'll learn the basics in a friendly and supportive environment.
The emotions of pottery are best shared. It's a joy to see people relax, have fun, and create something with their own hands.
Mondays don't have to be rushed. A calm morning in the studio is the perfect way to start the week.
Learning about color and pattern in our Nerikomi course. It's a collaborative environment where we all learn from each other.
Our three-week Nerikomi course is off to a great start. Look at the beautiful red pigment being mixed into the clay.
About The Pottery Lab Community
Whether you are coming alone or with a group, the studio thrives on conversation. Most of our sessions are kept to small batches of 6 to 10 people, meaning you will actually get to know the person at the wheel next to you rather than just staring at your own hands. We like to keep things relaxed, so if you are nervous about your first time, know that everyone else is figuring it out too.
The Pottery Lab is not just a place to make a bowl or a mug, it is a space to unplug from Mumbai’s relentless pace. When you join a session, you are walking into a community that values the process over the final product. Many of our regulars started as total strangers, only to find themselves sharing coffee and stories between wheel-throwing turns.
A Different Kind of Third Space
It is not home, and it is not work. It is the pottery lab. We create a space where you can get messy without judgment. You will see aunts working alongside their nieces, or work teams taking a break to get their hands dirty. We laugh, we mess up, and we fix it together. If a piece cracks during the firing, we recycle it. If a hand-building attempt looks wobbly, we call it wabi-sabi and move on to the next one.
Why Join Our Community?
- No Experience Necessary: You do not need an artistic bone in your body to join. We guide you step by step.
- Relaxed Atmosphere: Located in the leafy lanes of Pali Hill, our studio is designed to be a calm oasis. Mondays are slow, and you can just breathe here.
- Inclusive Craft: From Japanese Nerikomi to simple pinch pots, we have a way for everyone to participate, regardless of skill level.
Pottery is truly for everyone. If you have been looking for a reason to step away from your screen and connect with something real, you are welcome here.
The Pottery Lab
I am Rekha, and I started this studio to give people a quiet place to breathe. I believe everyone has a bit of creativity waiting to be unlocked, and I am just here to guide you through it. Come by for a session and leave the chaos outside.
