Inside the Studio: The People and The Process
Pottery is more than just mud; it is the stories we tell together. Step inside our Koramangala studio to meet our instructors, see our collaborative creative experiments, and get a glimpse of the community that makes the magic happen.
We were privileged to welcome the incredible Kate Malone to our studio for a session on sharing, reflection, and mutual learning. This event provided a valuable space for artists to receive feedback and gain fresh perspectives, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the pottery community.
It's that time of the year again. This video captures a moment of brainstorming and planning with our students, guessing what new and exciting projects are on the horizon. The energy and anticipation in the studio are contagious.
You had to be there. A little friendly competition to see who could weigh out exactly 500 grams of clay by feel. It is these crazy, fun moments that make our Clay Station family so special.
Our potters know the struggle is real. This fun video, inspired by a popular trend, shows the internal monologue of every artist trying to resist buying new glazes. We love having fun while we work.
Meet Vignesh, one of the all-rounders of our Clay Station family. He excels in everything from warehouse supervision to glaze production and is a valuable, dedicated team player with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Meet Haritha, one of our talented instructors. An architect by background and an artist at heart, she uses clay as a medium to express thoughts and help people connect with the earth, the craft, and themselves.
A portrait of our instructor, Haritha. Her passion for natural building and earth materials shines through in her teaching, where she guides students to find their own creative expression through clay.
At the Bengaluru Potters Market, you get to meet the makers behind the work. It's a personalized form of selling where you can ask questions, hear our stories, and see fantastic work from potters across India.
We are excited to host the Bengaluru Studio Potters Market, where 35 studio potters from across India will showcase their work. Come interact with us, understand our journey, and take home a handcrafted beauty.
This series, "1 Form, 3 Artists," was a fascinating collaborative experiment. We asked one artist, Shruthi, to throw a large sculptural form, which then became a canvas for three other artists to reinterpret, deconstruct, and layer with their own visual language. It was a joy to see how one form could inspire so many different stories.
About Inside the Studio: The People & The Process
You are likely wondering how the atmosphere actually feels during our sessions. Unlike a rigid classroom, we work in a shared space where students and instructors constantly swap tips, share kiln space, and collaborate on forms. Whether you are prepping for a professional portfolio or just looking to spend a weekend throwing on the wheel, you are plugging into a real, functioning studio environment where your skill level matters less than your curiosity.
At Clay Station, we believe that pottery happens best in a group. Our Koramangala studio is designed to break down the walls of the isolated artist. We host artists-in-residence who work alongside our foundation students, creating a natural mentorship loop. You will often find our instructors guiding students through complex techniques, or students debating the science of glazes and clay bodies during a break.
We document our process not to show off, but to invite you in. Our '1 Form, 3 Artists' series is a perfect example of this. We take one piece thrown on the wheel and have three different artists interpret it, showing how personal style changes the same lump of clay. This level of transparency is at the core of everything we do, from our basic taster sessions to our intensive 4.5-month foundation course.
When you join us, you are not just signing up for classes. You are joining a flow of production that includes everything from clay preparation to trimming and the eventual firing process. For those who complete our foundation diploma, this journey culminates in our 'Arangetram' exhibition, where you finally put your work in front of an audience. We do not gatekeep; we open the doors and help you find your hunar.
