Pottery Workshops and Experiences in Bandra
Welcome to The Pottery Lab. Here is a glimpse of life at the studio, from the messy joy of the potter's wheel to the quiet, green corners of Pali Hill.
This is my favorite moment in class, the breakthrough! It's that little spark when everything clicks. We focus on the process here, not perfection, and we celebrate every step.
Just look at these beautiful plates painted by people in our workshops. It's amazing to see everyone's unique style come to life with color and glaze.
Welcome to my studio, a little green escape right in the city. I wanted to create a space that feels calm and inspiring, where you can slow down and connect with your creative side.
The potter's wheel can be a fun challenge. This is a little glimpse of the hands-on experience, from shaping the clay to the happy faces of everyone learning together.
This is the Japanese Nerikomi technique, where we create patterns with colored clay. It's a really satisfying process of building, shaping, and revealing the final design.
I believe art is for everyone, and my studio is a space for us to learn and create together. Here I am guiding a student, but honestly, I learn so much from everyone who walks in.
Hello from The Pottery Lab. Here's a quick look at the different single-session workshops I offer. Whether you want to try the wheel or hand-build, there's something for you.
The final step before firing is glazing, where the magic happens. This video shows how a simple mug is transformed with glaze, from the careful application to the beautiful finished piece.
About Featured
Pottery is a beautiful, slow process that rewards patience. When you create something here, remember that the real magic happens after you leave the studio; I personally trim, glaze, and fire your pieces in our kiln. This means your final, food-safe creation will be ready for you to take home about four weeks after your session, once it has fully dried and survived the high-fire process.
At The Pottery Lab, I believe you do not need to be an artist to enjoy clay. Most people who walk through my doors in Bandra start by saying they cannot draw a straight line, but they leave with their own handmade stoneware. This gallery captures the different paths you can take here.
Finding Your Rhythm
Whether you are looking for a quick creative break or a deeper dive, there is a space for you.
- The Wheel: This is where you test your focus. It is messy, challenging, and incredibly rewarding when the clay finally centers under your hands.
- Hand-Building: If you prefer a slower pace, we use pinch, coil, and slab techniques. This is perfect for making functional items like plates and mugs, or even exploring Japanese Nerikomi to create intricate color patterns.
The Studio Experience
My studio is tucked away in Pali Hill, designed as a green escape from the noise of Mumbai. We keep our batches small, typically 6 to 10 people, to ensure you get enough guidance. It is not just about the output; it is about the community. You will find laughter, quiet afternoons, and a supportive environment where we celebrate every breakthrough moment, no matter how small.
From Clay to Collection
We handle all the technical details so you can focus on the making. All our glazes are lead-free and food-safe. After your session, your work undergoes two rounds of firing—bisque and glaze—in our studio kiln. This ensures your pieces are durable, chip-resistant, and ready for your kitchen. If you are joining us for a single-day workshop or our multi-week foundation course, you will get the full experience of how a lump of mud transforms into a finished, glazed object.
The Pottery Lab
I’m Rekha Goyal, and I started The Pottery Lab as a personal sanctuary from Mumbai’s chaos. I love seeing people walk in nervous and leave grinning with a piece they made themselves. Come by for a session; let’s put your hands in some clay and see what happens.
