Private Hand-Building Workshop
Workshop Details
- Duration: 1.5 to 2 Hours of exclusive studio access.
- Technique: Hand-building on wooden tables using pinch, coil, or slab methods (no potter's wheel involved).
- Guidance: Dedicated instruction by a studio artist to guide the group through specific forms like mugs or bowls.
Materials & Gear
- Clay: Unlimited access to high-quality stoneware clay (approx 500g-800g usage per person).
- Tools: Usage of professional pottery tools including wire cutters, ribs, modeling tools, and rolling pins.
- Protection: Aprons provided for all participants.
Post-Production Services
- Finishing: Staff handles technical post-processing including drying, trimming, and applying user-selected glaze colors.
- Firing: Includes two rounds of electric kiln firing (Bisque and Glaze) to make items food-safe and permanent.
- Timeline: Finished pieces are bubble-wrapped and ready for collection in 4 to 5 weeks.

What Happens at Our Studio
- You pick your crew - birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, or just a random day you want to do something new.
- We set up a private, hands-on art event for your group (minimum 4 people).
- Never touched clay? No stress. I guide everyone, step by step, whether you want to try the pottery wheel or hand-building stuff like pinching, coiling, or even Nerikomi marbling.
- The studio’s got big windows, loads of light, and greenery outside. It’s a proper escape from the usual.
What You’ll Make (and Keep)
- Everyone makes their own piece - could be a bowl, cup, or something totally random.
- I fire and glaze your work so it’s food-safe and microwave-safe.
- You come back later to pick up your finished ceramics, ready to use or gift.

My Story
Hi, I’m Rekha Goyal. Been playing with clay for 26 years now, and The Pottery Lab in Bandra is my little green escape from Mumbai’s chaos. Pottery for me is therapy - hands in mud, mind goes blank, just the wheel and you. People walk in nervous, but leave grinning with their own creation. We’ve built a community here - lots of laughs, some quiet afternoons, and over 8,000 stories spun on the wheel.
