Join me in my Pali Hill studio to learn the rhythm of the wheel. Whether you are holding clay for the first time or returning to the craft, this is where we turn messy practice into functional art.

An evening wheel throwing workshop in session. The studio is cozy and calm at night, making it a perfect way to unwind after a long day.

From learning hand-building techniques to getting messy on the potter's wheel. This video shows students fully engaged in the creative process during one of my courses.

A full house for a weekend pottery session. Students are focused on their pottery wheels, learning to center the clay and shape it into their own creations.

The potter's wheel is both calming and a little wild. It teaches you patience and focus, and the feeling of creating something from a lump of clay is just wonderful.

Another one of those breakthrough moments for an advanced student. It's so rewarding to see them gain confidence and skill on the potter's wheel.

Pottery is a form of therapy. It's about being mindful, patient, and finding joy in the process. Here you can see students working on the wheel and hand-building, ending with a finished piece.

A typical day in a pottery course, with students working at the wheel and learning from each other. You can see the clay shavings, a sign of good work being done.

About The Potter's Wheel Experience

Working on the electric wheel is about finding your balance as much as it is about shaping clay. When you join a session, I will guide you through using the Shimpo wheel to center your clay, but be prepared for the process to be unpredictable. You will be creating one piece to take home, and because I personally handle the trimming, glazing, and two rounds of kiln firing to ensure your work is food-safe, your finished bowl or cup will be ready for collection in about four weeks.

Understanding the Wheel

The potter's wheel is a tool that requires patience. In my studio, we do not focus on speed or mass production. Instead, we focus on the tactile connection between your hands and the clay. During these sessions, I provide unlimited practice clay, giving you the freedom to fail and try again until you feel the center of your piece.

Why the Timeline Matters

Many students ask why they cannot take their work home immediately. The journey from wet clay to a durable piece is technical. After you throw your pot, it must dry slowly to prevent cracking. I then trim it, let it dry further, and put it through the first 'bisque' firing. Only after that can I apply the glazes and fire it a second time. This process takes roughly four weeks, but it ensures your ceramic piece is non-toxic, microwave-safe, and built to last.

Who This Is For

This cluster is for anyone in Mumbai who needs a break from the city. You do not need to be an artist to join. Most people who book this session arrive saying they have no creative skills and leave with a finished bowl or cup they made themselves. If you are looking for a calm space in Bandra to breathe and create, you are in the right place.

I am Rekha Goyal, and I have been playing with clay for 26 years. My studio in Pali Hill is a green escape from the chaos of Mumbai where we turn messy clay into something beautiful. I love watching people walk in nervous and leave with a big smile and a creation they made with their own hands.
