Seasonal Sweets & Traditional Delights
I cook with the seasons, following nature's calendar. From winter's Gajar Halwa to summer's fresh Aamras, my kitchen celebrates the purity of real, farm-fresh ingredients.
I believe in cooking with the seasons, and my Strawberry Shrikhand is a perfect example. I use farm fresh strawberries, sourced from a small village near my hometown, to create this creamy, preservative-free dessert from scratch.
When winter arrives, so do the red Delhi carrots, perfect for making Gajar Halwa. I cook it slowly with pure ghee, khoya, and dry fruits until it is rich and flavorful. No food color is ever used.
Aamras and Kurdai is a classic summer combination in Maharashtra. The sweet mango pulp pairs beautifully with the crispy, sun-dried wheat crisps. The Kurdai is also homemade, following a traditional, rigorous process.
For Gudi Padwa, I offer both Dryfruit Shrikhand and this delicious Mango Shrikhand. It is made with the best quality mango pulp and has a rich, creamy texture that is perfect for festive celebrations.
My Dryfruit Shrikhand is a year round favorite, but especially popular during festivals. It is a creamy, sweet yogurt dessert, generously garnished with almonds, pistachios, and a hint of saffron.
I was so happy that the first batch of my homemade Strawberry Shrikhand was sold out in just two days. This post was to announce the second batch for all the foodies who missed out.
My homemade Strawberry Shrikhand, packed and ready for delivery. I am always grateful for the overwhelming response from my dear foodies for this seasonal specialty.
A close up of the creamy texture and fresh strawberry slices in my shrikhand. I never use any artificial colors or preservatives, letting the natural flavor of the fruit shine through.
About Seasonal Sweets & Delights
When you order a seasonal sweet from me, know that I am sourcing the fruit or produce specifically for your batch. Because I do not use preservatives, I limit these to small, fresh quantities to maintain the texture and taste exactly the way I make it for my own family. Please check what is currently fresh in the market, as my menu changes precisely with the seasons.
My philosophy is simple: 'Ann he Purnabrahma', meaning food is divine. I do not run a commercial kitchen, so you will never find thickeners, artificial food colors, or preservatives in any of my sweets.
Why Seasonal Matters
I believe in eating what nature provides at the right time. My Strawberry Shrikhand is made only when fresh strawberries from Nanduri are at their peak. I avoid cold storage produce, choosing farm-fresh batches that deliver natural sweetness and tartness. Similarly, my Gajar Halwa relies on the deep red carrots of winter, slow-cooked in pure cow ghee and khoya, not pre-packaged powders or shortcuts.
The Traditional Process
- Shrikhand: I strain the dahi for over eight hours to get that signature thick, creamy texture. Whether it is dry fruit or fruit-based, I use real fruit chunks, never essence or syrups.
- Small Batches: I limit my daily kitchen output to 35 orders. This ensures I can personally oversee the temperature of the sugar, the consistency of the ghee, and the quality of every garnish.
- No Bulk Production: You will not find me on food delivery apps. This food is prepared after you place an order, ensuring that what reaches your table is fresh and home-cooked.
If you have a specific festive requirement or a craving for a traditional Maharashtrian sweet, please reach out a day in advance. I take pride in the waiting time, as it is the time needed to make food the right way.
Hemas VegRasoi
I am Hema, and my kitchen is where tradition meets taste. I believe food is a blessing and should be treated with the same respect as a prayer. Whether it is slow-cooking winter carrots in pure ghee or straining dahi for hours to get that perfect Shrikhand texture, I do it all just the way my mother and grandmother taught me.
