When you are fasting, you need food that is nourishing and gentle on the stomach. I prepare traditional Vrat thalis using rock salt and pure ghee, keeping your fast sacred and satisfying.

This is my special Vrat ka Khana thali for MahaShivratri, complete with Sabudana Khichdi, Farali Kachori, Ratalu Kheer, and Rajgira Puri, to keep you nourished and satisfied.

About Vrat ka Khana (Sacred Fasting Meals)

When you order a Vrat thali, please remember I do not use any commercial thickeners or preservatives. Every dish, from the Sabudana Khichdi to the Rajgira Puri, is made to order in small batches. Because I only take 35 orders a day to maintain these homemade standards, it is best to place your request at least a day in advance so I can prepare everything fresh for your fasting day.

Fasting (Vrat/Upvas) is a time for devotion and physical cleansing. The food you consume plays a big role in how you feel throughout the day. My Vrat ka Khana menu is designed to be light, digestible, and deeply traditional.

What goes into my Vrat thalis?

My kitchen operates on the belief that 'Ann he Purnabrahma'—food is divine. I stick to traditional ingredients permissible during fasting:

  • Grains & Flours: Rajgira (Amaranth) and Bhagar (Barnyard millet) are staples.
  • Fats: Everything is cooked exclusively in pure cow ghee. I do not use refined oils.
  • Seasoning: I strictly use rock salt (sendha namak) and fresh green chilies. I do not use turmeric or garlic, as per traditional vrat customs.

A typical meal spread

You will usually find a balance of textures and flavors. A standard meal includes:

  • Mains: Fluffy, non-sticky Sabudana Khichdi or steaming hot Upvas Thalipeeth.
  • Sides: Crispy Farali Pattice or Sabudana Vada, paired with fresh coconut-peanut chutney.
  • Desserts: Ratalu (sweet potato) Kheer or Aloo Sheera.
  • Seasonal Specials: Depending on the produce, I might include fresh pomegranate and cucumber raita to keep you hydrated.

Why pre-order?

Because I run a home kitchen in Matunga, not a restaurant, I have limited capacity. My strict rule of 35 orders a day ensures that your Sabudana Vada is fried fresh and your Rajgira dough is kneaded just before it reaches you. I am not on delivery apps like Swiggy or Zomato because I prefer connecting directly with my customers. If you are planning your Vrat meal for a specific Ekadashi or Shravan Monday, reaching out a day early helps me reserve your slot.
