About Playful Yoga for Children
Children learn best through movement and imagination, not by holding strict poses. In my sessions, we transform asanas (postures) like the butterfly or tree into games, helping them understand their body alignment while having fun. It is less about perfection and more about building a healthy relationship with their physical self from a young age.
Why Yoga for Children
In an age of increased screen time and academic pressure, a dedicated time to move, breathe, and slow down is essential for a child's development. My approach at the Sahakarnagar studio, and in the sessions I conduct across Bangalore, focuses on Abhyas (practice) through a lens of play.
What to Expect
During these workshops, I guide children through a series of simplified sequences. We focus on coordination, balance, and learning to listen to the breath. If a child feels restless, we incorporate movement-based stories to channel that energy. We cover basic pranayama (breath control) techniques that help with focus and emotional regulation, presented in a way that feels natural to them.
My Approach to Instruction
I conduct these sessions in small, manageable groups to ensure I can give personal attention to each child's posture and safety. My goal is to make the practice enjoyable so that it becomes a source of calm for them, rather than another structured activity.
