About Online Classes: The Shala Comes to You
In my online sessions, we do not just mimic poses on a screen. I teach you how to adapt standard household furniture—such as a sturdy chair or a clear wall—into the props we use at the studio, ensuring you get the same alignment support regardless of your location.
Many students worry that yoga without a teacher’s physical touch will not be effective. However, the Iyengar method is fundamentally about intelligence and awareness. Through our live, interactive online sessions, I provide verbal cues that are as precise as the hands-on adjustments I offer at my Jayanagar shala. You learn to feel the posture from the inside out, guided by specific instructions on how to position your limbs and breath.
We focus heavily on accessibility. If you do not have a professional prop library, you do not need one. A dining chair, a belt, or even a stack of books can serve the same purpose for support and traction. This is the essence of Iyengar practice: understanding the 'why' behind the pose, not just the shape.
Our online cycles follow a structured syllabus, rotating through standing poses, forward bends, backbends, and restorative sequences. This rotation ensures you build a balanced practice over time, rather than randomly jumping between poses.
