About In-Person Classes & Workshops
In my classes, you will not just follow along; you will learn how to use props—wall ropes, wooden bricks, and chairs—to correct your alignment. Whether you are at our Jayanagar studio or at a workshop in Ramanagara, I provide hands-on adjustments to help you understand the geometry of each pose. This approach ensures that your practice is safe and effective, regardless of your current flexibility or strength.
Understanding the Iyengar Method
Iyengar Yoga is about precision. My classes are structured to help you develop strength, stability, and awareness. We treat the body as a whole, focusing on alignment so that the mind remains calm and focused. The props are not a replacement for effort; they are tools that allow every student, from beginner to advanced, to experience the correct pose.
Where We Practice
- Jayanagar Shala: This is where we hold our regular daily batches. The hall is equipped with wall ropes and all the necessary props to support a deep, systematic practice. It is a space for consistency and community.
- Ramanagara Centre: Located amidst nature, this centre is ideal for our intensive workshops and festivals. The open space and fresh environment allow for longer, more focused sessions, providing a necessary break from the city's pace.
What to Expect in Class
When you join a session, you are coming to learn a method that has been refined over generations. We rotate our focus, moving through standing poses, backbends, and forward bends. If you are stiff, we use props to help you extend; if you are hyper-flexible, we use props to teach you stability. My role is to guide you, adjust your posture, and help you find the intelligence in your own movement.
