Amit Yadav: Powerlifting Journey & Behind the Scenes
Powerlifting is more than just the final lift on the platform. It is the years of discipline, the weight management, and the mental grit required to stay at the top. Here is a look at my life in the gym and the reality of being a champion.
This is me in 2009, winning the All India University championship. I have been the 'Squat King' from the beginning, always focused on deep, strong squats.
A moment of prayer to Bajrang Bali before a training session. My faith is the source of my strength.
Weighing in during the hot summer. Managing your body weight is a constant challenge in this sport, and it requires discipline year-round.
Another weigh-in, showing the process of making weight for a competition class. This is a critical part of competition prep.
A friend and supporter talking about my journey and dedication to the sport. It's an honor to be recognized for the hard work I've put in for over a decade.
A cinematic look at my training, my coaches, and the environment that has shaped me as a lifter.
About My Journey & Behind the Scenes
You do not see the full story in the highlight reel. The real work happens during the exhausting off-season weigh-ins, the quiet moments of prayer before a set, and the relentless practice in Delhi's heat. I believe in showing my students the entire process because there are no shortcuts to building real, lasting strength.
The Reality of the Sport
Many see the gold medals and the national records, but they do not see the decade of sacrifice. Whether it is managing body weight during the summer or maintaining intensity when I am tired, the grind does not stop. My journey, from winning the All India University championship in 2009 to holding titles as a 'Strongman of India', is built on a foundation of consistency.
Why Technique Matters
I train athletes who are serious about their progress. It is not just about moving heavy iron; it is about how you move it.
- Equipped vs. Raw: I am one of the few coaches in India who has mastered both. Whether you want to lift using supportive gear or focus on raw strength, I teach you the specific mechanics for both.
- The Mindset: My faith is my strength. Before a heavy squat or deadlift, I focus. I teach my students that the gym is a place for discipline, not ego.
Join the Squad
I do not offer magic pills. I offer a proven roadmap. If you are in Delhi and want to train, my sessions at Lodi Colony are about hands-on correction, spotting, and real-time feedback. If you are training online, the discipline remains identical. We train until the technique is perfect and the strength follows naturally.
