This is a look at a personal practice at home, moving through a flow of asanas including Ustrasana (Camel Pose) and a lunge variation. A consistent self-practice is key to maintaining your own health and energy as a teacher.

"True yoga is not about the shape of your body but the shape of your life." This quote by Aadil Palkivala is a guiding principle in my teaching. I focus on how the practice transforms you from the inside out.

Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutation, is a foundational and highly beneficial practice. This video, set against a beautiful outdoor sculpture, shows a few variations that help to energize the body and calm the mind.

Here I am practicing Vrikshasana, or Tree Pose, by the sea. This grounding posture is wonderful for improving balance, strengthening the legs, and enhancing focus. The sound of the waves adds a natural element of peace.

Malasana, or the Garland Pose, has numerous benefits. As this graphic shows, it helps reduce belly fat, aids digestion, keeps hip joints healthy, and increases flexibility. I guide students on how to practice it correctly in my classes.

About Additional Work & Poses

In my practice, I often use simple props like a chair, a block, or even a dupatta to make asanas accessible. Yoga is not about forcing your body into a difficult pose, but finding the right modification so you can feel the benefits safely, regardless of your current flexibility or health condition.

Yoga is a journey of the self, and these poses are simply tools to help you reach a state of physical and mental wellness. In these galleries, you will find foundational practices like Surya Namaskar, which I recommend for its holistic ability to energize the body and calm the mind, and targeted postures like Malasana, which helps with digestion and hip health.

My approach is to keep things 'sahaj and saral'—meaning easy and effective. Whether we are practicing Vrikshasana for focus or using therapeutic movements for chronic pain management, the focus is always on your individual capacity. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all workout. If you are joining my classes in Kurla or Chembur, you will see how we adapt movements for seniors, those recovering from injuries, or anyone managing lifestyle conditions like PCOD or diabetes.

It is about building a sustainable 'jeevan shaili' (lifestyle) that makes your body feel younger and your mind quieter. You do not need extreme flexibility to start; you just need the willingness to move. Explore these postures to understand the form, but remember that the true practice happens when you connect your breath to your movement.
