Therapeutic Yoga: Healing Beyond Poses
Yoga isn't just about flexibility. I use adaptive, therapeutic sessions to help you manage chronic pain, regain mobility, and find comfort through guided, personalized care.
This is a personal training session focused on paralysis recovery. Each exercise is carefully chosen to stimulate nerve pathways and build muscle coordination. The journey is gradual, but with consistent effort, we see incredible progress in mobility and independence.
Even without traditional yoga equipment, we can adapt. Here, a client recovering from a paralysis event uses a sofa for support to perform kneeling exercises. This helps strengthen the core and legs in a safe, controlled environment, proving that healing can happen anywhere.
For clients recovering from hip injuries or fractures, movement is crucial but must be done carefully. I guide them through gentle exercises that strengthen the hip joint and surrounding muscles without causing strain. Willpower combined with the right guidance makes all the difference in recovery.
This is a glimpse into a private yoga session with a senior client. We work on a variety of poses, including gentle backbends and leg lifts, to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. It's never too late to start your yoga journey and experience its benefits.
Age is just a number when it comes to yoga. This client is demonstrating a deep Dhanurasana, or Bow Pose, which is excellent for strengthening the back and improving posture. My personalized guidance ensures that even advanced poses are approached safely.
Chair yoga is a wonderful option for those who cannot sit on the floor. This client is practicing pranayama, or breathing exercises, while seated. This helps to calm the nervous system, improve lung capacity, and bring mental clarity, all while being comfortably supported.
This is Parighasana, or the Gate Pose, which I often recommend for relieving back pain. Practiced here in a park, this pose provides a deep side-body stretch, releasing tension in the spine and improving flexibility. Nature and yoga are a perfect combination for healing.
Good digestion is fundamental to overall health. I design yoga sessions that specifically target the digestive system, using poses that stimulate internal organs, reduce bloating, and relieve stress, a major cause of gut issues. This informational graphic explains how yoga can naturally support your digestive wellness.
Sleep is essential for healing and recovery, yet so many people struggle with it. My evening relaxation classes include gentle yoga routines and meditation designed to calm the mind and stretch the body. This practice helps you unwind and drift into a deep, peaceful sleep.
Acupressure is a powerful complementary practice to yoga. In this video, I demonstrate key pressure points on the hand that can provide relief from common ailments like acidity, migraines, PCOS, and thyroid issues. These simple techniques can be used anywhere to manage symptoms naturally.
About Therapeutic Yoga: Healing Beyond Poses
Recovery, whether from paralysis or chronic joint pain, requires patience and safe, supported movement. I don't use standard mats for everyone; we often use household furniture like chairs, walls, or sofa supports to ensure your body feels secure while we work on regaining range of motion and strength.
Healing is a journey that looks different for everyone. When dealing with mobility issues—whether you are recovering from a stroke, managing hip pain, or facing the challenges of being bed-bound—the practice needs to adapt to your body, not the other way around. My therapeutic yoga approach focuses on gentle, controlled movements that stimulate nerve pathways and build muscle coordination without placing undue stress on vulnerable joints.
Why Personalized Therapeutic Yoga?
Unlike group classes that follow a one-size-fits-all sequence, therapeutic sessions are designed specifically for your condition.
- Prop-Supported Practice: We use whatever is available—chairs for seated pranayama, walls for balance, or pillows for joint support—to make yoga accessible and safe.
- Hands-on Guidance: For conditions like paralysis or limited motor control, I provide manual adjustments during our home visits to help you perform movements that might be impossible to do alone.
- Holistic Management: We combine physical asanas with breathing techniques (pranayama) and dietary advice to manage inflammation and support long-term recovery.
Where We Work
I bring this practice directly to your home in Kurla, Chembur, Tilak Nagar, and Ghatkopar. The comfort of your own space helps lower stress, which is a major factor in managing conditions like chronic pain and post-injury recovery. Whether it is a few sessions a week or a structured daily routine, my goal is to help you gain independence and improve your quality of life through consistent, small wins.
