About My Teaching Style: A Little Strict, A Lot of Fun
If you have ever felt lost in an online class, wondering if your downward dog is actually a slouching puppy, I am the teacher who will call that out—gently, but clearly. I do not believe in just watching you flow from afar; I am here to fix your alignment in real-time. Whether it is correcting your posture through the screen or reminding you to breathe when a pose gets tough, my sessions are designed to feel like I am right there on the mat next to you.
Why the 'Strict' Approach Matters
Many people think online yoga is passive—you just watch a video and hope for the best. That is not how I work. My classes are interactive for a reason. When I say, 'Fix your posture, ma,' I am looking out for your safety.
I focus on:
- Alignment over Aesthetics: We aren't doing this for the perfect Instagram shot. We are doing this to fix your rounded shoulders from laptop work and strengthen your core for daily life.
- Real-Time Feedback: I use a video-on policy because I need to see what you are doing. If your back is arching too much or your knees are locking, I will call it out immediately so you don't get injured.
The 'Fun' Factor (Because Yoga Shouldn't Be a Chore)
Let’s be honest: some days, your mind just won't quiet down, and your body feels like a rock. That is okay. My classes are a judgement-free zone. I use humour to break the tension of a long day because when you laugh, you breathe better. We incorporate props—yes, your kitchen chair and sofa pillows count—to make complex asanas accessible, not intimidating.
What You Can Expect
Every 75-minute session is a mix of traditional Hatha and Vinyasa flow. We don't skip the boring parts (which are actually the best parts):
- Breathwork (Pranayama): We dedicate 10–15 minutes to clearing the head.
- Guided Flow: Movements that build stamina, not just sweat.
- Shavasana: If you think this is optional, you haven't been to my class. It is the most important part.
Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, come as you are. Aiyo, don't worry if you can't touch your toes yet. We will get there, one breath at a time.
