Aerial Yoga Classes for Strength and Flow
Discover the joy of aerial yoga at my Santacruz studio. We use professional hammocks to build core strength, decompress the spine, and find balance in every pose.
This sequence shows how we use the hammock to assist with standing poses and deep stretches. It’s a mix of mat-based yoga principles and aerial support to enhance balance and flexibility.
Watch as my students transition through different seated poses in the hammock. These movements are excellent for building core stability and finding a sense of graceful flow.
Our classes often incorporate floor work where the hammock is used as a tool for resistance and support. This helps in targeting specific muscle groups for a full-body workout.
This seated boat pose, or Navasana, is a fantastic core exercise. Using the hammock for support allows for better form and a deeper engagement of the abdominal muscles.
About Building Strength & Flow
The hammock does more than just support you—it gives you immediate feedback on your alignment. When we move into poses like a floating Navasana (boat pose), the fabric naturally guides your body, helping you engage your core without the usual strain on your back or neck. It is a completely different way to understand your own strength compared to mat work.
Why Aerial Yoga?
Aerial yoga, often called anti-gravity yoga, is a wonderful way to challenge your body in a fun, playful environment. Unlike traditional mat yoga, the hammock allows for spinal decompression, letting your vertebrae hang freely and releasing tension that builds up from sitting at a desk all day.
What to Expect in Class
My classes are not about perfect poses. We focus on 'showing up' and having fun. Whether we are practicing standing poses to improve balance or working on safe, supported inversions, I am there to spot you. We keep the groups small—usually around 8 to 10 people—at my studio in Balkan-Ji-Bari, Santacruz West. This ensures that every student gets the attention they need, especially when learning how to enter or exit a pose.
Beginners are Welcome
If you have never touched an aerial hammock before, please do not stress. I break down every movement, starting with simple hangs before we try anything more complex. We move through a warm-up, standing poses, and eventually, a 'floating Savasana' that most of my students say is the highlight of their week.
