About Getting Started with Online Yoga
If you are hesitant to join a group class because you do not want an audience while you practice, my sessions use a specific 'Focus Mode' on Zoom. This means I can see you to correct your posture, but you cannot see other participants on your screen. It creates a private, judgment-free space where you can focus entirely on your breath and movement, just as you would in a 1-on-1 setting.
Starting a home yoga practice is often more about logistics than willpower. Whether you are navigating your second trimester or recovering postpartum, the biggest hurdle is usually finding the time and a consistent space. My online classes are built to remove these barriers, letting you show up as you are—even if your baby is crawling on your mat or you only have 20 minutes to spare.
Creating Your Home Practice
You do not need a dedicated studio room. A quiet corner where you can roll out your mat is enough. I encourage my students to use household items as props—a sturdy chair for balance, cushions for hip support, or a wall for stability during standing poses. We focus on consistency rather than duration; showing up for 10 minutes is more effective for your nervous system than a long, stressful hour once a week.
Why Online Works for You
- No Commute: Save your energy and time by practicing from home, which is vital when you are dealing with pregnancy fatigue or postpartum recovery.
- Adaptable Poses: We modify every asana based on your specific stage, whether you are managing lower back pain, sciatica, or need to strengthen your pelvic floor.
- Breathwork Focus: We integrate pranayama (breathwork) in every session to help manage anxiety and prepare your lung capacity for labor.
Getting Started
If you are a total beginner, please clear your participation with your doctor first. For the sessions, wear comfortable clothing that allows full range of motion. I recommend keeping a water bottle nearby and, if you are pregnant, a few extra pillows for support during relaxation. My goal is to help you connect with your body's wisdom, not to force it into a rigid shape. Let’s make yoga a sustainable part of your daily routine.
Hamsikha
I’m Hamsikha, and these days I’m mostly ‘mama’ to my 6-month-old. I built this program because I know exactly how hard it is to prioritize yourself when you’re navigating pregnancy or the postpartum fog. I’m here to make yoga feel like a reachable anchor, not another chore on your to-do list.
