Therapeutic Yoga for a Healthy Spine
Yoga is about more than just movement; it is about finding relief and 'man ka sukoon' (peace of mind). Join my sessions in Sector 46 to heal your back, improve posture, and release tension using guided props.
A back-bending day at the studio where we use props like the yoga wheel to support and deepen the stretch. This helps improve spinal flexibility and opens up the chest and shoulders safely.
It's a back-bending day. We focus on gentle yet effective movements to increase the flexibility of the spine, which is key to staying grounded and energetic.
This is one of the best practices for spine and lung health. The extended child's pose helps to gently stretch the spine, relieve tension in the back, and promote deep, calming breaths.
Dhanurasana, or Bow Pose, is one of the best asanas for creating a flexible and strong spine. You can see my students working on this powerful backbend, which also strengthens the core and opens the chest.
"Forgive the past, Heal the future." Here, a student uses rope support to gently move into Ustrasana (Camel Pose), a heart-opening backbend that helps release emotional tension and heal the body.
A good morning stretch is essential for a healthy spine. Our classes often start with gentle movements to awaken the body and prepare the back for the day's practice.
About Therapeutic Yoga for a Healthy Spine
You do not need to push yourself through pain to find relief. In these sessions, we use Iyengar-style wall ropes (Kurinta) for spinal traction and inversion therapy. This approach creates necessary space in your vertebrae, which is far more effective for back pain than standard stretching. I ensure my students use these props correctly to decompress the spine safely, helping you feel lighter and more aligned from the very first class.
My approach to a healthy spine is grounded in practical techniques rather than just quick fixes. When you join our mandal (community), you are not just attending a class; you are learning how to listen to your body.
How We Heal
We move beyond generic floor exercises by integrating specific props that target the spine and shoulders:
- Wall Rope Yoga: Used for spinal traction to relieve compressed nerves and improve posture.
- Danda Yoga: We use bamboo sticks to align the shoulders and upper back, correcting the hunching many of us develop from sitting at desks.
- Yoga Wheels: These are essential for deep, safe backbends that open the chest and thoracic spine.
Whether you are dealing with chronic back pain, stiff shoulders, or simply want to improve your flexibility, these sessions provide the guidance you need. I keep group sizes small, between 10 to 15 students, so I can personally supervise your form and ensure you are performing each asana safely.
We start with gentle morning stretches to awaken the body and progress into more intensive sessions focusing on alignment. Yoga is a journey, and my goal is to provide the support and the tools you need to move comfortably through your day. If you are looking to manage an injury or just want a strong back, let's work on it together.
