We take our practice beyond the studio, moving into nature to connect with the elements. From serene garden flows to large community celebrations, join us where the air is fresh and the energy is open.

Practicing yoga outdoors connects us to the elements. Here, our students are in Janu Sirsasana during a special outdoor session.

Finding my own balance while teaching. Here I am in Trikonasana during an outdoor class, demonstrating the pose for our students.

An outdoor class practicing Dhanurasana (Bow Pose) together on the grass. The fresh air and natural surroundings enhance the benefits of the practice.

I provide an adjustment to a student in Anjaneyasana (Low Lunge) during our International Yoga Day celebration. Practicing together outdoors amplifies the sense of community.

A beautiful shot of our outdoor class practicing Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I) against a colorful mural. Yoga is an art, and we love practicing in inspiring locations.

Partner yoga outdoors is a wonderful way to build connection and trust. Here, students support each other in a seated chair pose variation.

Students reach for the sky in Vrikshasana (Tree Pose) during an outdoor session. Balancing on uneven ground adds a new challenge and deepens focus.

About this collection

When we take our practice from the studio to the outdoors, the ground itself becomes a teacher. Practicing poses like Vrikshasana (Tree Pose) on grass or uneven terrain forces your core and stabilizer muscles to work harder than they ever would on a flat wooden floor. It is not just about the scenic view—it is about waking up the smaller muscles in your feet and ankles that often stay dormant during indoor sessions.

Yoga is meant to be a connection with nature—Prakriti. That is why we step out of the studio, whether it is for a large International Yoga Day gathering, a rainy morning flow, or just a shift of energy in a garden.

Why We Practice Outdoors

  1. Deepening Focus: Being surrounded by open sky and natural sounds helps you detach from the noise of daily city life. It is easier to find mental clarity when you are breathing fresh air.
  2. Functional Balance: As mentioned, practicing on grass or sand creates an immediate challenge for your balance. It is a fantastic way to test if your practice is truly stable or if you rely too much on the perfect mat grip.
  3. Community Spirit: Our outdoor events are about Sangat—community. Whether we are practicing Surya Namaskar or sharing meditation, these events are where our students truly bond.

Practical Details

  • Weather: We are traditional practitioners, not fair-weather yogis. Unless conditions are dangerous, we practice through the elements, rain or shine.
  • Preparation: Please wear comfortable, breathable clothing. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to settle in before the flow begins.
  • Skill Level: These sessions are open to everyone. If you are new to our school, we suggest attending one studio class first so you understand our alignment principles and how we use props.
