I create homes that feel rooted in the land. By using local materials like lime plaster, exposed earth, and hand-cut stone, I build spaces that are naturally cool, honest, and uniquely yours.

The play of light and shadow through a custom-designed jali screen creates a dynamic, shifting pattern on the wall of this staircase, turning a simple surface into a piece of art.

A bathroom detail showing the beautiful contrast between the dark, rough texture of slate stone walls and the smooth, warm finish of the wooden vanity.

The vibrant blue of this louvered door creates a striking contrast against the earthy texture of the exposed CSEB wall.

A study in black and white. The geometric pattern of the floor tiles contrasts with the simple white subway tiles on the wall, creating a bold and graphic bathroom design.

In this living room, thin wooden strips are inlaid into the wall in an abstract pattern, creating a unique and subtle feature that contrasts with the smooth white surface.

An orange 3D-paneled wall serves as a vibrant focal point in this living room, showcasing how a single, bold material choice can define a space.

The repetition of form in these wooden vases with delicate inlay work creates a simple yet elegant decorative corner.

The vertical lines of the wooden TV panel are repeated in the fluted design of the console below, creating a sense of rhythm and unity.

A child climbs a staircase with wooden treads and a glass railing, demonstrating how I consider human scale and proportion in every design detail.

The herringbone pattern of the wooden floor, the diamond pattern of the roman blinds, and the clean lines of the wardrobe all work together to create a richly textured bedroom.

About The Beauty of Material & Craft

When I design, I look at what the site gives us. Instead of factory-made laminates, I prefer lime plaster walls that breathe or Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB) made right on your property. These aren't just aesthetic choices; they regulate temperature and humidity naturally, making your home comfortable without constant air conditioning. Every tile, handle, and floor inlay we use is a conscious decision to minimize carbon footprint while maximizing texture and character.

My design philosophy is simple: a home should belong to its surroundings, not just sit on top of them. Whether it is a modern apartment in Indiranagar or a villa on the outskirts of Bangalore, the goal remains the same—creating a breathable, healthy environment.

Why Materiality Matters

We lean heavily on vernacular techniques. This means using materials that age gracefully. We use oxide flooring, which offers a seamless, cooling finish underfoot, and replace standard paint with lime plaster, which improves indoor air quality. For storage, we move away from typical modular boards, opting for marine-grade ply finished with natural veneers or rattan weaves, paired with handmade handles.

The Design-Build Approach

I manage the entire journey—from sourcing the stone to coordinating the carpenter. If you want a wall demolished for better light or a custom archway to define your living space, we handle the civil modifications with the same care as the aesthetic finishes. This ensures that the tiny details—like the grain of the wood or the exact tone of the plaster—actually make it into the finished home.

Designing this way requires a different mindset. It is slower, more intentional, and collaborative. We are not just selecting furniture from a catalogue; we are building pieces that fit the proportions of your room and the reality of your daily life. If you are interested in a home that feels warm, personal, and connected to the earth, let us talk about how we can make that happen.

I’m Sanjay. My approach is about making homes that breathe and age beautifully. I spend my days between construction sites and my design studio, working with masons and carpenters to ensure the vision on paper becomes the reality you live in.
