Bespoke Teak & Rattan Sofas
Fabrication & Materials
- Structure: Kiln-dried solid wood internal framing (Marandi or Neem termite-treated) with exposed framework in high-grade Teak Wood or polished Rubberwood.
- Weaving: Natural Rattan Artistry (cane/wickerwork) integrated into backrests, armrests, or side panels.
- Cushioning: High-density 40D foam (Sleepwell/Kurlon equivalent) wrapped in polyfill.
- Upholstery: Mid-to-premium range fabrics (Cotton-Linen blends, textured polyesters) priced up to INR 1,500/meter.
Design & Finish
- Dimensions: Fully made-to-measure sizes to fit specific floor plans.
- Finish: Melamine or PU matte finish on exposed wood parts.
- Styles: Covers low-height floor seating, mid-century modern frames with tapered legs, or traditional heavy wooden sofas.
Custom Rubberwood & Ply Wardrobes
Core Construction
- Carcass: BWP/BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) Grade Plywood internals finished with white or fabric-textured internal laminate (0.8mm).
- Shutters: Rubberwood framing (finger-jointed boards) or HDHMR boards depending on paint finish.
- Hardware: Soft-close hinges and drawer channels (Hettich or Hafele).
Artisanal Details
- Handles: Includes signature hand-painted wooden handles with floral/geometric motifs or custom-turned knobs.
- Surface Detailing: Options for fluted panels, wave boards, or mix-media shutters (Laminate + Cane inserts).
- Finishes: Premium matte laminates or PU coating.
- Layout: Internal customization includes hanging rods, shelves, and drawers based on inventory needs.
6-Seater Stone & Teak Dining Set
Dining Table
- Base: Solid Teak Wood structure with tapered or turned legs.
- Tabletop: Options include solid wood joined planks OR Stone Top (Polished Kota Stone, Granite, or Yellow Sandstone).
- Size: Standard 6-seater dimension (approx. 6ft x 3ft).
Seating Configuration
- Chairs (4 units): Solid Teak wood frames with natural cane/rattan woven backrests and upholstered seat pads.
- Dining Bench (1 unit): 2-seater wooden bench with matching upholstery, designed to slide under the table.
- Joinery: Mortise and tenon joinery for structural stability.
Statement Swings & Console Units
Indoor Swings (Jhula)
- Material: Solid Teak wood plank (approx. 6 cft volume) with heavy-duty rattan backrest.
- Hardware: Suspended by brass rods or customized metal chains; includes installation hardware.
Consoles & Storage Units
- Composition: Black metal frames (Cast Iron/Mild Steel) combined with wooden cabinetry.
- Surfaces: Use of Black Granite or Kota stone slabs as counter surfaces.
- Finish: High-quality sealants for stone and matte polish for wood.
- Utility: Includes cable management for TV units and ventilation slits for shoe cabinets.

Materials & Artisanal Detailing
We keep it natural and sustainable. Mostly work with teak and rubberwood, add touches like rattan and cane (sometimes imported from Indonesia), and top it off with fine veneers. Our team—and a network of master artisans from Rajasthan, UP, and more—bring in those handcrafted home decor details, like hand-painted handles.

My Story
We kicked off Tropic Responses in 2011, ek simple idea tha—let’s make homes that belong to the tropics, not just sit on it. For me, architecture is all about using mitti (earth), local hands, and culture. Like at Ekadanta, we made bricks from the same land—Mumbai ka lime, Rajasthan ka wood, Kerala ka oxide. People say sustainable homes can’t be posh—challenge accepted! It’s about making luxury gentle on the earth. And ya, teaching young architects? Always a joy.
