The Craft of Design: Sustainable Materials and Process
Every project is a journey from the ground up. I blend raw, earth-friendly materials with intentional spatial planning to ensure your home feels natural and alive.
This is where every project begins: with layers of sketches, site plans, and brainstorming notes. My process is hands-on from the very first concept, focusing on spatial design and planning to create earth-friendly homes.
A Bhoomi Pooja ceremony for a new project, a ritual to honor Mother Earth before construction begins. I believe in respecting the land and traditions associated with building a new home, marking a grounded and thoughtful start.
These are natural materials extracted directly from a project site. I often experiment with local soil, lime, and other earthy elements for use in sustainable techniques like cob construction, connecting the building to its environment.
The process of hand-weaving cane into a custom cabinet shutter. I value traditional craftsmanship and often collaborate with skilled artisans to create bespoke details that bring a natural, retro feel to my interiors.

I find endless inspiration in nature, such as this golden chrysalis of a Tithoria tarricina butterfly. Its form, color, and texture influence my approach to biophilic architecture and creating naturally balanced spaces.
The intricate patterns and metallic sheen of the golden chrysalis are a perfect example of natural fabrication. These are the kinds of details from nature that I seek to echo in my design work.
Holding this delicate natural structure reminds me of the beauty in organic forms.

About The Craft of Design: Materials & Process
I do not believe in starting a build without first honoring the site. Whether it is performing a traditional Bhoomi Pooja to respect the land or testing local soil for cob construction, my process is entirely hands-on. I prioritize raw, sustainable elements—like handwoven cane, exposed concrete, and teak—because these materials age beautifully and ground the space in its environment.
From Concept to Construction
Design is not just about aesthetics. It is a dialogue between the built form and nature. I take inspiration from the Fibonacci sequence and organic patterns found in a golden chrysalis to inform how I structure floor plates and interior spaces. By keeping the floor plates simple, I allow for more complex, functional interaction within the room.
The Material Palette
My approach relies on honest materials. You will often find exposed brick, concrete, and handwoven cane in my projects.
- Cane and Rattan: I collaborate with skilled artisans for hand-woven panels. This adds texture and breathability to cabinet shutters, replacing synthetic alternatives that feel cold.
- Concrete and Brick: These are used to create structural warmth. I minimize wastage by using local resources and ensuring that every cut serves a purpose.
- Sustainable Execution: My goal is always to create a space that requires less maintenance and stands the test of time, rather than chasing fleeting trends.
The Design Journey
Every project is a collaboration. Whether I am drafting technical GFC drawings or selecting paint shades, my focus remains on the 'how'. We start with site planning and 3D visualizations to ensure you see the potential of the space before a single brick is laid. I supervise the execution to ensure that the final result mirrors the original vision—crafted, not just assembled.
