Welcome to our studio by the lake in Bangalore. Since 1977, we have been crafting stories on fabric, honouring traditional techniques while embracing sustainable ideas. Every piece here is a collaboration of love, designed and printed by our artisan family.

From a simple sketch to a wearable story, this video shows the journey of our 'sherni' tiger saree. We collaborate with you to translate your vision, which our master artisans then meticulously hand-carve into teak wood blocks and print onto fine silk using organic dyes.

The heart of our craft lies in the hands of our master carvers. Here, an artisan chisels away at a piece of teak wood, bringing an intricate design to life. This level of detail and skill is what makes each print a unique piece of art.

Our textiles come alive on the runway. This ensemble, created in collaboration with Studio Swiatlo, features a blend of pattern dyeing and discharge printing on handloom fabric, showcasing the versatility of our craft for contemporary fashion.

We believe in the power of nature. Here, our artisan Banu prepares a fresh batch of natural dye using traditional stone grinding methods. We use ingredients like Indian Madder and Myrobalan, ensuring our colors are earthy, organic, and gentle on the planet.

This vintage 'tree of life' block is a treasured piece from our archive. Intricately carved with birds and flowers, it represents the deep connection to nature and heritage that we weave into every fabric we produce.

The quiet focus of our artisan as he prints a breezy kota saree. Using timeless floral and paisley blocks from our collection, he carefully places each motif, ensuring the final piece tells a story of a dreamy vintage summer.

Craft transcends language. Here, an artist from the Bábbarra Women’s Centre in Australia shares a moment of learning and co-creation with one of our senior artisans. These cross-cultural exchanges are vital to keeping global craft traditions thriving.

We open our doors to share the magic of block printing. This image from one of our workshops shows a participant learning the hands-on process, connecting directly with the craft and the artisans who sustain it.

A finished piece of custom-designed fabric, ready for its new home. This seven-part discharge print on organic cotton, created for Wanderling Silk, shows a magical garden scene brought to life with plant-based resins and intricate layering.

Our commitment extends to the next generation. We partner with the Asha Foundation for Autism, providing vocational training for specially-abled artisans. It is a joy to see new talent discover their abilities and help carry our craft forward.

About Featured

When you work with us, you are not just getting a print; you are entering a partnership that starts at our wooden tables in Sadashivnagar. We require you to provide the base fabric, which allows us to focus entirely on the artistry of natural dyes and intricate block registration. Because we hand-mix every colour to match your specific vision, the process involves meaningful back-and-forth testing before the final production run begins.

Our studio is built on the belief that textiles should carry the soul of their making. Whether it is a single saree or a collection for a brand, we approach every meter of fabric with the same dedication. We specialize in working with natural fabrics like silk, linen, and cotton, utilizing GOTS-certified organic pigments and traditional natural dyes like Indigo and Indian Madder.

Our archival collection of vintage wood blocks is the heartbeat of the studio. Many of these blocks, carved decades ago, tell mythological and botanical stories that we frequently reinterpret for modern fashion and home interiors. If you have a specific design in mind, our master artisans can hand-carve new teak wood blocks tailored to your pattern requirements. This is where our collaborative spirit shines; we have worked with designers to translate linoleum art, sketches, and digital vectors into fabric art.

Production at our Bangalore studio involves meticulous steps: scouring the fabric to ensure purity, manual registration for up to three colours, and traditional sun curing to set the dyes. By keeping our production small-batch and artisan-led, we ensure that every design is a keepsake. We invite you to visit our space in Sadashivnagar to see the printing tables in action, feel the texture of our naturally dyed silks, and discuss how we can bring your textile vision to life.
