Our senior artisan Banu shares rare glimpses into our vintage design books. These patterns, inspired by architectural structures like arches and pillars, are often used as beautiful borders for our custom sarees.

About Our Vintage Archive: Reimagined Heritage
You do not have to just look at our archive. You can select any of these heritage motifs, like our 70-year-old architectural arches or the classic Gandabherunda, and have them hand-printed on your own fabric. We walk you through the color mixing and block registration so you can take home a piece of history that fits your personal style, whether it is for a saree, a cushion cover, or wall art.
Our studio in Sadashivnagar houses one of the largest private collections of wood printing blocks in South India. These tools are more than just equipment. They are a physical record of our visual history, carrying intricate designs that range from mythological figures like the Gandabherunda to the geometric patterns seen in local temple architecture.
Breathing New Life into Old Prints
We do not believe in letting these patterns gather dust. Our practice is to constantly reinterpret these heritage motifs for contemporary use. Whether you are looking to create a statement piece for your home or a unique garment, these blocks offer a depth that modern digital prints simply cannot match.
The Collaborative Process
When you work with us, you are engaging with the same slow, manual process we have used since 1977.
- Selection: You browse our archive to find a motif that resonates with your vision.
- Adjustment: We adapt the design to your specific needs, adjusting the scale or layout to suit your fabric.
- Execution: Our artisans then use their rhythmic precision to print the design using natural, GOTS-certified pigments.
This is a hands-on partnership. If you have a specific color palette in mind, we mix our pigments manually to match your preference. Because we use traditional hand-block printing techniques, every impression is slightly unique, ensuring that your finished piece is not just a product, but a tangible story. We invite you to visit our Bangalore studio to see the blocks in person and discuss how we can integrate them into your next project.
Tharangini Studio
We are Tharangini Studio, a family-run heritage space in Sadashivnagar where textile history is alive. My mother started this journey in 1977, and today we continue to print using the same slow, thoughtful methods. When you come here, you are not just a customer; you are collaborating with our artisan family to keep these old crafts breathing.
