Behind the Scenes at Tharangini Studio
See how we live, work, and celebrate the spirit of our artisan family in the heart of Bangalore.
Our dream team! Most companies have one COO, but we have these brilliant women who help us run the studio. We have been a women-led studio for 47 years and are proud to celebrate their strength and resilience.

Ayudha Pooja at our studio is a special day where we honor the tools of our craft. Led by our artisans, we adorn every corner with flowers and pay respect to the traditions passed down from our founder.

About Additional Work & Studio Life
We believe that how we work matters just as much as what we create. From our traditional Ayudha Pooja where we honour the very tools that sustain our craft, to the daily rhythms of our printing tables, this space is built on human connection. When you visit our studio in Sadashivnagar, you are not just observing a production process, you are stepping into a community that has been nurturing textile heritage since 1977.
At Tharangini, the studio is far more than a place of work. Our founder, Lakshmi Srivatsa, cultivated a space that feels like home, tucked away in the green corners of Bangalore. This culture of belonging is what we carry into every textile we print.
Our studio life is defined by the passing down of skills. You will often see master artisans working alongside their children, ensuring that the intricate knowledge of hand-block printing, natural dyeing, and block carving remains alive. We are proud to be a women-led organization, and we prioritize ethical labor and environmental stewardship as much as we value aesthetic beauty.
Every project, whether it is a custom saree or an exhibition panel, begins with a shared sense of purpose. We often host workshops and collaborative sessions where designers, students, and enthusiasts can learn from our team. We embrace the concept of jugaad, the flexible innovation that allows us to blend heritage motifs like the Gandabherunda with modern needs.
We invite you to experience this rhythm firsthand. If you are interested in a guided tour, wanting to learn the craft, or simply looking to understand the journey of organic, sustainable fabrics, our doors are open. It is a space where the history of Indian handicrafts meets the future of thoughtful design.
