Music is a spiritual journey, a path that connects us to our roots. Here, we honor traditions like Holi and Guru Purnima through song, learning the emotion behind every melody.

Glimpses from our Guru Purnima celebrations at the academy. It is a day we pay homage to our gurus and seek their blessings for our musical journey. The day is filled with puja and student performances.

On Guru Purnima, we begin by honoring the great masters of our tradition. Here I am paying my respects, a ritual that reinforces the values of humility and gratitude in all my students.

We start our workshops and special events by lighting a lamp and paying respect to our gurus. Here, Pandit Devendra Verma inaugurates a classical music workshop at our academy.

Celebrating the festival of colors with music. Here I am teaching my students a traditional Holi composition, 'Rang Darungi Nand ke Lalan Pe', filling the classroom with festive cheer.

Keeping the musical traditions of Holi alive. We ensure that the next generation learns and appreciates the beautiful melodies associated with our festivals.

The excitement for Holi is in full swing at the academy. We celebrate by singing traditional 'Hori' compositions, which are a special genre of semi-classical music.

Glimpses from our Basant Panchami celebrations. On this day, we worship Goddess Saraswati and celebrate the arrival of spring with special ragas like Basant.

About Celebrating Tradition: Festivals & Devotion

When you learn with me, we do not just practice scales or technique. We study the traditional compositions associated with seasonal festivals, such as Holi or Basant Panchami. During these sessions, I focus on helping you understand the specific bhaav (emotion) required for these pieces, ensuring your singing feels like an offering rather than a mere performance.

Hindustani classical music is inseparable from our cultural calendar. Whether it is the joyous melodies of 'Hori' compositions during Holi or the serene, scholarly Ragas we sing for Basant Panchami, these moments offer a unique way to deepen your Raga practice.

My approach to these sessions is rooted in the Guru-Shishya tradition. We start by exploring the history and context of the specific festive composition, followed by technical instruction on the Sur and Laya. This ensures that when you sing, you are not just reciting notes, but expressing the cultural spirit of the piece.

We also hold special devotional sessions for Guru Purnima. These are not merely performances but opportunities to observe the discipline and dedication required to sustain this long journey.

What you will gain:

  • Traditional Bandishes: Learn authentic compositions passed down through generations.
  • Emotional Resonance: Develop the ability to infuse 'bhaav' into your singing.
  • Cultural Context: Understand the stories and history behind the music you perform.
  • Stage Presence: Gain confidence through our monthly Baithaks, where you can present these festive pieces in a supportive, intimate setting.

Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the basics of vocal culture or an advanced student wanting to refine your presentation, these sessions will help you connect with music in a deeper, more meaningful way.
