Music is a spiritual journey. We teach you to find the 'bhaav' in every note, ensuring your singing is a reflection of your soul and discipline.

A timeless reminder from the great Pt. Rajan Mishra ji that music is a spiritual offering, not just a performance. It requires complete surrender. This is a core value I impart to my students.

The legendary Pt. Kumar Gandharva reminds us that music is not just craft, but also art. Endless practice must be paired with deep thought and introspection.

"Golden words" from Pt. Rajan Mishra ji on the importance of respecting elders and learning from them. He emphasizes that true mastery comes from deep knowledge, not just a few compositions.

A profound quote from Mozart that holds true for all music. The silence between the notes, the 'thehrav', is just as important as the notes themselves. This is a key concept in creating 'bhaav'.

We begin our study of music with intention. Raag Bhairav, the raga of dawn, carries calm, devotion, and discipline in every note, setting the tone for our sadhana.

Understanding the structure of a raga is the first step. Here are the ascending (Aaroh) and descending (Avroh) scales of Raag Bhairav, noting the 'komal' or flat notes that give it its unique character.

Each week, we focus on a specific raga. This post introduces Raag Bhairav, an ancient and powerful morning melody that we explore in our classes.

We break down complex ideas into simple concepts. This post explains 'Kaida', a fundamental theme in tabla playing that is built upon and expanded, much like a raga.

A short video explaining the concept of 'Kaida' in tabla. Understanding the rhythmic framework is crucial for vocalists as well.

Another concept from our learning series. 'Kaida' is an integral part of learning tabla, representing a rule or theme that is then developed.

About The Philosophy of Music: Wisdom from the Masters

Many students come to me knowing how to sing a composition, but they struggle to connect with the raaga. In our lessons, we move beyond just perfecting the swaras. I focus on 'bhaav'—the emotion—because a melody without soul is just sound. When you join, we work on your breath, your patience, and your understanding of the raaga's history, turning your practice into a true sadhana.

Hindustani classical music is a vast ocean, and learning it requires more than just memorizing bandishes. It is about understanding the logic of the scales and the structure of the talas. In our classes, we follow a path of systematic learning. We begin with the basics of swara and laya, ensuring your voice culture is built on a solid foundation.

My teaching reflects the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara. Whether you are a beginner or looking to advance your training for Prayag Sangeet Samiti exams, the goal is the same: to make music a part of your daily rhythm. We spend time on the 'thehrav' (stillness) between the notes, which is often where the real magic happens.

We offer flexibility for dedicated students, with both in-person sessions in Rohini and online lessons for those at a distance. If you are serious about this journey, come prepared to listen, learn, and grow. This is not just a place to sing; it is a gurukul where we cultivate the patience required to master a raaga.
