Asana Immersions & Masterclasses in Powai

Step off the daily flow and into a space of technical depth. Our masterclasses are designed to help you break down complex postures and refine your alignment in a supportive, focused environment.

A glimpse from our three day immersion, focusing on the details that lead to a peak posture. We explored deep hip openers, breathwork, and the art of flipping the grip with precision and grace.

A student finds depth in Kapotasana during a backbend masterclass. These immersions are about breakthroughs, guiding you to open your heart and spine with newfound awareness.

Our workshop schedules are thoughtfully designed to build a complete practice. Day two of this immersion focused on the "Symphony of the Shoulders," exploring wrist mobility, arm balancing, and even Thai massage techniques for recovery.

Day one of our Angarasa workshop focuses on unwinding the hips. We explore functional movements, self massage for the feet, and how to invoke a state of flow using props.

We are honored to host masters like Acharya Bharath Shetty. This workshop schedule shows a blend of traditional Mysore Sadhana with focused sessions on hip openers, backbends, and inversions.

About this collection

In these workshops, we move past the routine to address the technical bottlenecks in your practice. Whether it is finding space in the thoracic spine for a deeper backbend or understanding how to distribute weight during arm balances, we use specific props and hands-on adjustments to help you navigate these movements safely. These sessions are about deconstructing the pose, so you can stop forcing your body and start understanding its geometry.

Why We Do Immersions

Daily classes are for maintenance, but our masterclasses are for breakthroughs. We host these intensive sessions in our Powai shala for practitioners who have reached a plateau and want to understand the mechanics behind the movement.

What To Expect

We prioritize quality of movement over quantity. Our workshops, such as our Angarasa sessions, focus on:

  • Targeted Biomechanics: We break down specific groups of asanas, like hip openers or inversions, over several hours. This allows time to move slowly and safely.
  • Hands-on Guidance: We keep batch sizes small, usually capped at 15 people. This ensures you get physical adjustments from our visiting masters or senior teachers to correct your alignment.
  • Recovery and Integration: A true practice includes knowing when to rest. We often include sessions on myofascial release, Thai massage techniques, and Savasana to help your body absorb the intensity of the work.

The Space

Our studio in Hiranandani Gardens is designed for focused practice. We have wooden flooring, climate control, and all the props you need—blocks, straps, and bolsters—so you don't have to worry about the tools. We believe that when you are comfortable and supported, your nervous system can settle, and that is when the real learning begins.

Upcoming Focus Areas

We rotate our themes to cover the needs of our community. Common focus areas include:

  • Backbend Dynamics: Creating space in the chest and shoulders.
  • Arm Balance Foundations: Learning how to leverage the core rather than just relying on arm strength.
  • Hip Mobility: Unlocking the tension held in the lower body to ease into seated postures.

I built Svādhyāya as a homecoming for practitioners in Powai. My goal is to create a space where you can meet yourself on the mat, whether through the precision of an asana immersion or the simple act of showing up.
