Mastering Advanced Yoga Asanas: Precision & Alignment
Advanced asanas are not about performing; they are about understanding the geometry of your own body. I provide the technical, hands-on guidance you need to safely unlock deeper backbends, inversions, and arm balances.

About Mastering Your Practice: Advanced Asanas
Advanced poses like Kapotasana or Ganda Bherundasana are not just for photographs. Without proper warm-ups and precise alignment checks, they are often recipes for injury. In my studio, we use specialized wall-ropes, wooden blocks, and belts to teach you the geometry of the pose before you ever attempt the full version. You learn the anatomy of the movement so your body knows exactly what to do.
True advancement in yoga does not come from forcing your body into a shape. It comes from patience and understanding the 'why' behind every move. Whether you are working toward complex arm balances like Ashtavakrasana or trying to refine your backbends, my focus is on systematic preparation.
Why Practice with Props?
Many students fear advanced poses because they lack the confidence that they won't fall or hurt themselves. I use the Iyengar prop method to support you. We use the wall for traction in backbends and ropes to stabilize your spine during inversions. This allows your muscles to learn the alignment without the fear of collapsing.
The Anatomy of a Pose
We break down poses into manageable steps. For example, before doing a full chin stand, we work on shoulder stability and core engagement. I provide hands-on adjustments in every class to ensure your spine is protected and your limbs are positioned correctly.
My Philosophy on Advancement
I believe in the principle of 'step-by-step, no rushing.' You might see a flashy pose on social media, but real progress is hidden in the hours of consistent, boring, repetitive practice. When you train with me at my Ghatkopar East studio, we focus on that consistency. We combine physical training with Pranayama to ensure your mind is as steady as your body in these challenging postures. If you are ready to stop guessing and start practicing with intent, come join the shala.
