Yoga in the Himalayas: Authentic Immersive Retreats
We combine Classical Hatha Yoga with the intense, natural energy of the Himalayas. These retreats are not vacations, but opportunities to deepen your sadhana through practice, trekking, and visiting sacred energy spaces.
We will journey to Rishikesh to let your mind and body heal with Classical Hatha Yoga practices. The retreat includes a trek to the winter seat of Tungnath and Chandrashila, allowing you to immerse yourself in the profound stillness of the snow-covered landscape.
A moment of quiet rejuvenation amidst the vastness of the Dhauladhar mountain range. During our Dharamshala yoga retreat, we take time to simply be with nature, allowing its healing presence to deepen our inner experience.
This retreat is for anyone seeking to learn classical yoga, to be awed by the views of Nanda Devi and Trishul peaks, or to connect with a like-minded community. The image shows our group amidst prayer flags, a common sight on our Himalayan spiritual adventures.
Our Seva retreat is named for the yogic aim of being of service. We will journey to Kasar Devi, one of the 108 Shakti Peeths, a place known for its unique geomagnetic field which creates a powerful atmosphere for spiritual practice, similar to Stonehenge or Machu Picchu.
About Yoga in the Himalayas
You should know that this is not a casual wellness break. Our daily schedule is disciplined, focusing on Classical Hatha Yoga practices like Surya Kriya in the mornings, followed by trekking to Himalayan sites like Kasar Devi or the Dhauladhar range. Because we maintain the integrity of these practices, there is no music or complex equipment, just the raw environment and your commitment to the process.
Our retreats are designed to offer you the space to step back from the chatter of your mind. We follow the classical lineage as taught by Sadhguru, which means we do not modify the practices to make them 'easy' or 'commercial.' Whether we are in Rishikesh or the heights of the Dhauladhar mountains, the focus remains on your inner alignment.
What to Expect
- Disciplined Practice: You will learn Surya Kriya or Surya Shakti modules, designed by the Isha Hatha Yoga School. These are potent tools for balance and energy, taught by instructors with over 1750 hours of training.
- The Himalayan Environment: The mountains are not just a backdrop. We choose locations with distinct energetic properties—places like Kasar Devi, which sits on a significant geomagnetic field. Trekking to these sites is part of the experience, and you should be physically prepared for varied terrain.
- Sattvic Living: We stay in curated nature-centric properties or homestays. Your meals will be strictly vegetarian and plant-based, prepared to support your yoga practice rather than just satisfy the palate.
This journey is for those who are serious about their spiritual, physical, and mental well-being. It is intense, but many find that when they return, the stillness they found in the mountains remains with them in their daily life.
