Himalayan Yoga & Trekking Retreats
Join me for a 6-day journey where we combine high-altitude trekking with daily yoga practice. From the Sandakphu trails to the Gangotri peaks, find your inner balance while exploring India's most breathtaking mountain ranges.
The beginning of our Sandakphu trek. Day one took us from Sepi to Samanden, an ascent to 7,760 feet. Every step on the trail is a moving meditation, connecting us with the earth as we begin our journey into the mountains.
Day two of the Sandakphu trek, venturing deep into dense pine and bamboo forests. The path becomes an adventure in itself, with the sunlight filtering through the canopy, reminding us to stay present and aware of the beauty surrounding us.
On day three, we were rewarded with a spectacular view of the "Sleeping Buddha" formation of the Kanchenjunga range. Moments like these, after a long day of trekking, are what make the journey so spiritually fulfilling.
Day four involved trekking along the Indo-Nepal border, a unique cultural experience. We reached our campsite at Aal, situated at 11,570 feet, feeling accomplished and ready for the final push to the summit.
The summit day of the Sandakphu Phalut trek. Reaching the top is not about conquering the mountain, but about conquering your own perceived limits. The feeling of achievement, surrounded by panoramic Himalayan views, is indescribable.
A fun warm-up session at high altitude. Keeping the body moving and the spirits high is essential on a trek. A little bit of playful movement helps prepare our muscles and minds for the day's hike.
Finding my inner warrior with Virabhadrasana II on the snowy summit of Surya Top. The crisp mountain air and the vastness of the Gangotri range create a powerful backdrop for this pose of strength and focus.
About this collection
We partner with certified trek leads for every expedition to ensure your safety above 10,000 feet. While I guide the morning flow and evening restorative sessions, our support team manages route navigation and daily pulse oximeter checks, allowing you to focus completely on your breath and the mountain silence.
A Full Reset for Mind and Body
These retreats are not about pushing your physical limits to the point of exhaustion; they are about using the mountains as a space to slow down. We blend high-altitude trekking with two yoga sessions daily—a dynamic sunrise flow to warm up your muscles and a restorative evening practice to help you recover.
Practical Details & Safety
- Acclimatization: We prioritize safety with a gradual ascent, using pranayama sessions specifically designed for high-altitude breathing. This helps your body adjust to lower oxygen levels at 10,000+ feet.
- Support Team: You are never alone on the trail. We travel with certified trek leaders, local guides, and support staff who manage the logistics, including daily pulse oximeter readings to ensure everyone is healthy.
- Accommodation & Food: We stay in rustic tea house lodges or alpine tents. Meals are wholesome and vegetarian, planned specifically to provide the energy needed for high-altitude hiking, including staples like dal-rice, porridge, and warm soups.
What to Expect
Whether we are trekking the Sandakphu route or practicing Virabhadrasana II on a snowy summit at 13,000 feet, the goal remains the same: grounding. You will leave with a stronger practice and a different perspective on your own limits. If you have any specific concerns about altitude, fitness levels, or the yoga intensity, just ask.
Nidhi Bansal
For me, yoga isn't confined to a studio; it's a conversation with nature. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me trekking in the Himalayas, finding my center at 13,000 feet, or sharing a laugh with fellow trekkers by the campfire. I believe these mountains offer the best mat in the world.
